Why though bother to apply for FLR as if she takes the Life in the UK test she could apply for ILR? As both in theory require the same amount of supporting documentation I don't think thats entierly true. ILR application need 20 docuemts spreading evenly for 2 years, demonstrating that they are bot...

[quote="Sammie"]I think your friend has no option but to apply for FLR. If he does nothing at all, when his wife’s 2 year spouse visa expires, without an extension (or application for an extension in progress), she will be regarded as an overstayer. Tell your friend to try and get as many document...

Don't think FLR is a option either as the form states if you are applying for an extension of stay even though you have completed or are completing 2 years’ leave to enter or remain in the UK as a partner you must provide 20 letters and/or other documents.

The Belgian Embassy would have issued a Schengen visa.

I can post it on 16th June 2008 but postal application takes 20+ days and that would make her overstay in this country, is it not? No it won't. They just need to receive her application before her current visa expires. As she hasn't passed her Life in the UK test you need to get this sorted out as ...

I thought they were now using Secure Mail Services to return passports - that is how our passports were returned when my wife applied for British citizenship.

You can choose to either say either the Oath of Allegiance (religious) or the Affirmation of Allegiance (non-religious). At my wife's ceremony they split the group into two - one side o...

Have you checked the form? It only gives you two options - need time to obtain qualification to prove knowledge of life in the uk or because of personal circumstances to do with your relationship with your partner. I would have thought your biggest issue as your wife spent a lot (most?) of time out ...

It's not just the staff at the Greek Embassy that are rude, the woman at the Italian vice-consulate was rude to my wife as well. Maybe it's because they don't like issuing free visas to the spouses of British citizens. You could try complaining to SOLVIT http://ec.europa.eu/solvit/site/index_en.htm ...

You are a British citizen aren't you? If so the Greek embassy should not be asking your husband for anything more than proof that he is married to a British citizen (ie your passport and your marriage certificate). They have no right to ask for details of travel plans, finances, accommodation, etc.

What nationality is your wife? Depending on her nationality she may still require a visa to visit another EU country (even for a holiday).

Or, no she doesn't according to EEA directives. But the reality is unless u want a relentless battle with every jobsworth on the way just get the (free) visa. I don't think this is strictly true as the directive actually says: "Family members who are not nationals of a Member State shall only be re...

The reason I'm asking is that I sent in my naturalisation application 2 months ago hoping it would come through within 6 months, as I'm planning on going travelling for several months at the end of August. However, now that there have been more applications than usual and big delays, this is lookin...

If your girlfriend comes to the UK on a fiancee visa she will not be able to work until you get married. You will need to get married within 6 months and then apply for further leave to remain. Once she is granted FLR she will be able to work in the UK without any restrictions.

Yes you need to provide all the mail spread over the two years if your wife is applying for ILR on the basis of being in a relationship (married or unmarried) with a British Citizen. I don't think there's any reason why they would be any more lenient because you have a child. It's not a problem for ...
