There is also the Marriage Visit Visa, where u get married within the six months, return home and apply for a spouse visa. I think she should apply for a fiancée visa. This will allow her 6 months in the UK and then you can get married. Make sure the marriage is done so it is recognised for purpos...

In reality you have little choice but to keep pestering them, and if it comes to it, to withdraw the application and then apply for a visa to come back. Might be a daft question but... If you withdraw an application and your current visa has already expired do you automatically get marked an an ove...

Having read the Governments Response to the Path to Citizenship Consultation, I get the impression that ILR will be kept as an alternative to citizenship. The reasoning seems to be that they 'understand' that some people can not hold dual citizenship. It also implies on page 14 (the diagram) that t...

You seem to think naturalisation and ILR are the same thing, they are not. You need to get ILR, then you can be naturalised.

The rules you found are for naturalisation, not for ILR. For you to get ILR as a work permit holder you need to have spent a continuous period of 5 years lawfully in the UK.

Don't think they plan to take it away from anyone. But I guess that if they wanted they could make it easier to take away and remove access to benefits to persuade people to apply for British Citizenshp/permanent residency.

Apologies, I was obviously writing my post at the same time that was uploaded. I just read the article, and if possible my opinion of that paper just lowered. Just seen on another forum that someone who was granted a spouse visa on the 3rd October 2006 but didn't arrive in the UK until the 14th November 2006 (delay of 6 weeks) has just been granted ILR directly rather than having to apply for FLR first.

Maybe the BIA are being a bit more flexible.

What type of visa? If you mean visit (ie up to 6 months) then yes. If you mean permanently then no, I don't think it's possible until you get ILR.

I don't believe there is a way because what you are trying to do is bring her here to work - she looks after your son, you pay her in the form of accomodation and other living expenses.

However for others, all they need to do is to tick the last box under Q1.22 on the form AN. That is it! No need to submit a certificate in order to prove that! And as it says in the Guide ,,,, last bullet point .... "Your confirmation that you met this requirement in order to obtain settlement." .....

Don't think so - the only places advertised in Scotland on the BIA website are East Kilbride, Hamilton and Lanark. Probably not too far to travel from Glasgow.

I have just thought of another thing that I'm not sure if I should include in our application. We are in the process of finding out if we can withdraw that money before we depart, if we can...

beg to disagree on this one as I had my brother in law with a 6-month UK visit visa able to apply for quick 3day visit to France. Was this recent or a while ago? I thought it use to be possible but checking the websites of various embassies suggests that it's no longer possible unless you have a Br...

In this case, once the lady's husband has established himself as a worker in any EU state except the UK, if he then choses to come back here and work, his rights accrue under EU law, not the UK Immigration Rules, and she will have an absolute right to accompany him as an EEA Family member. Thanks for that update on the rules.

When did they start the 27 months visa? Saves so much hassle.
The rules were updated in July 2008 and should have been enforced straightaway, though whether all the ECOs did is another question.
