1) They can change the rules though in the past some rules changes have been fought successfully. Not sure if the UK government leaves itself open nowadays to allow rules changes to be challenged. Bear in mind that even if the rules are not changed, it might be that you do not meet the requirements ...

I am a UK citizen living overseas (currently Singapore) with my wife and daughter. My wife is a PR China citizen and our 4 year o...

As I've said on this forum a few times when my wife (then my fiancee..) applied which admittedly was a few years back we had no wedding plans either. The only mention was in my sponsor's letter when I said we were planning to get married in 'May' which was a few months later. In my opinion a refusal...

Thanks, Wanderer. I would of course be paying tax in the US on those earnings as I am a US citizen. I have filed both US and UK taxes every year since living in the UK. My question is really whether having a US-based job would prevent me from obtaining UK citizenship. But as Wanderer has mentioned ...

Would have thought you'd be better to wait until ~February 2011 (assuming you were in the UK in 5 years prior to that date) when your absences in the final year will be less than 3 months.

thank you.
i believe you can apply, though you stand more chance of being granted the visa if you apply from the country where you are resident.

Yes I agree, but it is not the requirement by HO. I think you find it is. I can see why you could try to argue that "they have known the applicant personally for more than 3 years" could mean that the referee knew the applicant well for a period of three years, just not the last three years, but as...

doesnt seem like a good idea. what if UKBA wants to ring him to ask about you? This person lives abroad, and then making a statement about your character. Doesnt sound like a credible reference in any sense. I dont know the answer, but I find your logic twisted. So what you are saying is that peopl...
