Re: Advice on filling form AN for naturalisation

I have lived with my girlfriend for just over a year. I am claiming citizenship in my own right and not via her. 1.15 Marital Status - do I select single or unmarried partner? If I select unmarried partner, do I fill in her details in 1.32 'Please provide here the details of your husband, wife or ci...

Convictions/Traffic offences

Background: - I have 3 -5 historic speeding offences in NZ. - Some were by speed camera and some by police officer. - I am very vague on the actual dates, the last one I estimate was 3 or 4 years ago - they were issued as an infringment notice (not sure of equivalent in UK - FPN?) - in all cases a f...

Re: Can Tier 2 (General) & Tier 5 (YMS) be valid same time?

What does the 30 years old eligibility actually mean? The site doesn't seem to be very clear about this. Can the intended to travel date be when I have already turned 31 but I was still 30 when I submit the online application? You need to apply(ie: send the application) before your 31st birthday. T...

Re: UK YMS CONTRADICTION

1) The 6 month residency is not enforced 100% of the time, as I know firsthand of people that have succesfully gained a YMS in Ireland while on a tourist visa. However, you do run the risk you may be rejected on those grounds, and you will have to wait around in whichever country while it is process...

Re: SAR Entry Exit ?

I only had 3 landing cards out of probably at least 50 entries/exits.

They were for my very first entry to the UK, and 2 when I was given entry as a visitor but with a reduced time limit.

As far as I know unless there is a reason for keeping them as above, they are destroyed.

Just reaaply when she is ready(provided she has never entered on the previous one), the new visa will supercede the old one. No need to cancel it.

You should state accurately your status.

Putting down you have an unmarried partner will not result in a refusal.

Re: Visa expiring

This is exactly the situation I am in. I am looking forward to hearing responses, as I heard there was maybe some leniency that you could leave several days after your visa expires. Under the current rules, when applying (in advance) for a visa, previous overstays of 90 days or less are disregarded...

Where is this occuring? Are you referring to the sporadic checks at Heathrow that have been happening for some time?

I flew out of Gatwick a couple of weeks ago and there was certainly none there.

Ancestry Dependent ILR

A couple are living outside the UK, one is a british citizen by descent, the other is not, and they wish to come here to live. Getting a Spouse visa is complicated by the financial requirements. I would assume the British citizen is also eligible for an Ancestry visa (or does his citizenship preclud...

Re: EEA Family Permit or Work Visa ?

If your partner has a UK born grandparent they can apply for an Ancestry visa, or as already mentioned if under 30 they can apply for Youth Mobility. If eligible these 2 are far easier and less hassle than Tier 2/Work Permit.

I know of an NZer in a similar situation late last year. On the return trip the airline was heistant to allow them to board and they had to sign a waiver meaning they would be liable for return airfaire costs if refused entry (which otherwise the airline would have to bear). Once at the UK border th...

Re: Entry refusal

Why did you try to reenter the UK on an expired visa? OP is eligible for visa on arrival, hence they would have been attempting entry on a new tourist visa, rather than the expired T5. Given the new circumstances, OP should aply for a visa before departing, which ordinarily should be granted given ...

Re: Telecommuting on YMS?

You will need to talk to a tax professional for a definitive answer. My understanding is that by virtue of you being present in the UK, you are required to pay income tax there. Because of double taxation agreements you will not need to pay tax on that income in Canada (as opposed to vice-versa whic...

Re: Visa Application Advice after being denied entry

My research revealed that this visa has the option of being granted from within the UK. This is where you went wrong. You can switch from many visas to T4 dependant, but not from a visitor visa. I was told I was not going to be allowed to enter the country and was put on the first plane back to Can...
