When does the visa start ticking? Date issued or date you enter UK? Date of entry to UK. Also as you mentioned, Tier 1 entitles you to apply for uk passport after the 5 year stay Actually I said you qualify for ILR after 5 years, then citizenship/passport 1 year after that. what are further restric...

The convictions are likely considered as spent and in any case are not taken into consideration when applying for Right of Abode.

Checking the application will probably confirm this ie: do they ask for criminal convictions?

Re: T1 (G) out of country last application date 23rd Decemeb

The statement of changes is worth reading Good summary. It doesn't say anything about CoSs which would otherwise have been granted were it not for the illegal cap being imposed - I guess there may be a case for these being granted retrospectively but don't know. This is a tricky one, as I see it if...

I have gone through the statement of changes and still it doesn't mention anything regarding tier 1 general extensions after 2011. It is quite specific in that all references to leave to remain as a Tier 1 General holder are left in the rules, while references to Entry clearance are removed. How mu...

It seems there is a possibility all Tier 1 applications to date will be accepted due to the court decision on Friday. The situation is not sao straightforward for Tier 2 applicants due to the way the cap was implemented - most or all applicants did not actually submit visa applications as they were ...

Yes permanent residency known officially as ILR/Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Under current rules:

5 years on settlement visa (Tier 1/2 etc) can then apply for ILR, lapses after a certain period out of the country
1 year on ILR can then apply for British citizenship(+passport), does not lapse

Get a Tier 1. Otherwise I will just about guarantee you will reach the end of your 2 years on Tier 5/YMS and be left wondering how you can stay on - I've seen it time and time again. Your options will be limited - no Tier 1 will exist, Tier 2 probably will but who knows under what rules plus in any ...

hmmmm... OK. i don't understand how a shortfall can occur. if for example, i got my tier1 on lets says 12 nov 2006 (for 2 years), it would have ran out on 12 nov 2008 at which point i would have applied for extension (further 3 years) and would have gone up to 12 nov 2011. You are assuming the visa...

The OP's first extension will be considered according to the rule in place after 2010 April. Though the rule says that he can score the same points as it is considered under 2009 rule, it is still the 2010 rule that his application is decided according to. The only requirement for extension is set ...

They will know the reason for refusal so best you phrase as it appears on the refusal form.

In any case it should not have an effect on your T1G application.

If it shows on your statements as going below 800 at any time during the 90 days, you will not meet the requirements.

You can however submit evidence of another account to make up the shortfall.

the HO can get a record of NI contributions and from that can easily distinguish how many hours some one is working. remember students do not pay tax + NI if they work 20 hrs a week and until they reach a threshold. After they reach that threshold they would start paying taxes and NI. So if some on...

How?

Your assertion simply does not stack up given the fact that HMRC does not keep a record of hours worked.

You could phone them and request stamped statements, which they then send to you.

You won't get anywhere arguing the point with UKBA or anyone else, if you don't meet the requirements your visa will be refused.

A stamp is just that, a rubber stamp which is pressed in ink then applied to the paper.

Your bank's logo is not a stamp.

Also, don't take any risks on such matters, many people have been refused for not exactly meeting ther requirements in regards to bank statements.

1) UKBA do not cross check the NI number with HMRC (unless policy has changed quite recently)
2) Even if they did, how can they use it to prove how many hours somebody worked? HMRC knows how much the person was paid and how much tax was deducted, not how many hours they worked.
