But as an Australian he can leave and reenter, and try his luck in being granted a tourist visa.

Generally if you have enough evidence to prove your intentions you will be OK, however I personally know of at least one occurrence where entry has been denied.

You can't extend a YMS visa. You need to apply for a visa in your own right or qualify for EU citizenship: - Tier 2 sponsored by Employer. Fair amount of effort on employers part (sponsorship license, resident labour test, etc) and you need to meet requirements for job title and salary - Ancestry th...

You have almost another year in which to meet the salary requirements. Take on a second job, find extra work etc.

As above your age points remain the same as when you were first granted your visa.

I take it then that 'applying' for a visa on arrival is not classed as an entry clearance application - what is the differentiation?

Ordinarily you should be paying tax in the UK, but it would not normally affect your Tier 1 extension.

Or qualify through family links:
- if you have a british born grandparent you can apply for an Ancestry Visa
- if you have an Irish born grandparent you can apply for Irish citizenship
- if you have Italian ancestors you may be able to claim citizenship

Otherwise Tier 2 is about it.

You can probably apply for an unmarried partner visa in 5 months time, provided you have sufficient proof from when you first started living together. If she is able to obatin a visitor visa and return at some point during this period it should work in your favour. Periods apart of up to 6 months ar...

Re: Tier 1 (General) Extension - If not visited to UK

1) 6 months to your Visa expiry will cause you trouble in entry point and you have to come up with good reason that why on earth you are in your home country for all these years. This will be pretty tough !! and i am only 15% sure you will pass this point . Wish you Luck! If he tells the truth he i...

IMHO, when applying for entry clearance, if an applicant required 80 (attributes) + 10 (maintenance funds) + 10 (English language) = 100 points then the same applicant will now require to score 100 (attributes) points to qualify for extension. (Attributes = Age + Qualifications + Previous earnings ...

This has been discussed before, I think they removed some PGD's from the points caclulator - possibly some of the more dodgy colleges.

Suggest you start a new thread as this is not related to the transitional arrangements.

How old are you? Have you had a Working Holiday Visa or Tier 5 visa before? If not and you are under 31, that would be a good option to buy some time, and build up to 2 years of living together. Like all other visa routes suggested, it requires you to return to Australia to apply, however is quite s...
