Does he meet the requriements of the business visitor visa?

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /business/

If yes he can be granted one on entry. If no he needs to apply for the relevant visa before departing.

a) Your YMS is void
b) In any case valid or not, it would not exempt you from the RLMT test.

Under the new rules coming into force in December you would be very close to qualifying with this arrangement, as you will be allowed 180 days absence each year. Assuming you have annual leave and those days are spent inside the UK you should be able to come under the limit. http://immigrationboards...

Looks good at first glance, however: provided the absence is due to an employment, including annual leave, or business related reason or there are serious or compelling compassionate reasons for the absence. To me this implies that absences outside of these circumstances (ie: unpaid leave) are not p...

Another major advantage is right to reside and work in any EU country. [edit - I see that was mentioned briefly above]

And if I understand correctly, ILR must be reissued when the containig passport expires, with an associated cost? or has that changed with the BRP cards?

Getting an appointment inside the 42 day window is extremely difficult as it requires someone else cancelling the same type of appointment you want, and you finding it and booking it before anyone else does.

I'm not sure of immigration consultant recommendations but others should be able to help.

There is a thread in this or the Tier 1 General forum which covered the best strategy to get an appointment, find it and read it.

If you are randomly trying you have no chance.

Otherwise pay an immigration consultant/lawyer for one of their preallocated slots.

As you say, the RoA certificate expires upon expiry of the passport in which it is endorsed. Normally, when a new passport is issued, the old one is cancelled, i.e. it's expired, and the passport authority puts a stamp in it to that effect. If this is the case, then you couldn't rely on the certifi...

As I said above, it is 6 months from your last entry.

Be aware if you keep re-entering they will eventually cotton on to it and give you a period of shorter leave, or potentially none at all.

This is what happened to me several years ago under the same circumstances.

It gives 2 years leave, if she is living with you the whole time (and you have sufficient documentary evidence) she can then apply for an unmarried partner vi...

Generally it does restart every time you enter as you get a new 6 month stamp. Sometimes they stamp you for less but it is less likely, though possible to arise out of having multiple 6 month visas. There is a general guide that you should only spend 6 months out of every 12 here as a visitor but I ...

It sounds from your posts you are waiting for a 'single entry visa' - are you talking about a visitor visa? Surely it is instead a replacement BRP that you want? I am not sure how viable this suggestion is, but why don't you get a Eurostar ticket, and try enter under your Tier 1, explaining to the I...
