We went in Person, and collected in person. Anyone can go for collection, it doesnt have to be the applicant. There is an option for giving an envelope, but it just adds to the time taken. I can also confirm that it takes only a week to get the indian passport renewed. I just did that for my wife before I applied for the Tier1.

Any Tier-1 (General) new applicants??

SinSpider, I did apply earlier this month (6th) and the payment was deducted on 8th. However, nothing yet. I also contacted the HO by email asking for a reference number. They have refused, saying that if things are within the suggested time period (5 to 6 weeks) no other communication is encouraged...
