They don't know when somebody left because there aren't any stamps on exit. That's why they ask.
No I meant if the ILR was issued less than 6 months ago. It does state the date ILR was received.

For ILR, the time that you have been away becomes very important because if it's more than two years and you haven't kept any ties with the country and don't have a returning resident visa, they can invalidate your ILR there and then. It's happened to a few people I know. Agreed but if you go it le...

Thats the standard question. It is kind of like a check. To be sure you are not using somoene else's passport. They are not judging you. I always find their tone takes me aback and with an offputting question, it is very uncomfortable.

Does anyone know whether the governement will allow any overstayer to sort out their status in the uk rather than making a move out of the country and back again. what difference will it make if someone does it in the uk or abroad. No chance! Exactly. What difference does it make? That's why from t...

While I think the drunk driving conviction is really going to hurt your naturalization chances, you might get through with it on ILR if you are lucky. The community work really isn't going to mitigate the conviction from an ILR point of view. Between the two, if you had no conviction, I'd say apply ...

smooth operator - i would think not. My sis-in-law had an MA, and she forwarded her certificates to show that she was educated and knew English when she applied for ILR, and they accepted this and she didnt have to do any kind of test. This was in 2005, so I dont know if things have changed since t...

Re: Applying: AUS Girlfriend's Unmarried visa - dodgy eviden

Hello - I've been searching for similar posts, but nothing seems to quite answer my query. I am a student (2nd year, Oxford Uni), met my girlfriend (20, Australian) during my Gap year - we both worked in schools in Dorset. We 'got together' mid Feb 06, and have been together ever since (over two ye...

Re: residence conditions

Hi All, I am settled in UK with ILR which I got in April, 2005. I have a child who didn't join us when we came to UK. He was attending a boarding school overseas. He join us this year after applying for settlement visa to join us. My question is how his residence period will be calculated? For exam...

It seems to me that you can remain in the UK until Sept 2009. You just have to stop working by sept 2008.
You probably have holiday accrued so you could stretch out the work for another month.
