I have joined my current company few months back only. So, want to know if I will have to ask my previous employer also for a letter.
Suggest apply via NCS so you can keep the passport.Letter will be a tedious process and UKBA will want to cross check it as well.

Check and serve at PO, is as good as you are in filling your application. So they may fail as well.
I found that if you post the application yourself it reaches IPS at least 2 days earlier and is dealt with more quickly.

It may take up to 12 wks, applications are processed in Hongkong, while passports are printed in the UK.

No you cannot do it now. Best is to go over in person and pay, I suspect they will just ignore your application until you pay. Call them and check it out.
