Re: New Citizenship rules - Buying / Mortgaging home

With all the uncertainty about the settlement, will it be better to avoid any commitment here (like buying a home), until you become citizen? The reason is that if you are refused "provisional citizenship", you may have to leave, and you may not have enough time to sell your home. If you have alrea...

Re: Revoke ILR

Is it true? I recall reading something on this forum but cant remember. they are replacing ILR to perm...

Hi Rizwan! Can I just ask where the draft bill states that the rule changes will only affect newcomers to the UK? When I last read it (a couple of months or so ago), I did not find any mention of this either way. I know there has been some conjecture in the media regarding the bill only applying to...

That's the Irish for you. We don't (yet) put UKBA officers on arrivals from the Republic. its just because on each port in the uk there is separte arrival doors or sections for rep. of ireland arrival but in the ireland on each port no separte fecility for the uk arrival pessanger only and the uk p...

Re: Passport Stamp Flying From Dublin to London?

Point is, if you now have ILR you will be able to apply one year after your ILR date for naturalisation. Does the "sketch" of a bill called draft mention that explicitly? The only hint I could find is that it says "naturalisation at a later point", without actually giving a time frame. So it could ...

Iceman, I don't beleive you have read the draft bill correctly. Nowhere does it state people with ILR will need to do 5 years before naturalisation. What it probably means is that, you will need to be a resident for 5 years and there after to complete or not your probation period of 3 years, before...

Hello, Reading though the draft bill, it seems like current ILR holders will need to wait 5 years to be naturalized without probation. With voluntary work its 3 years I think. Plus ILR = Permanent permission in the future. there are nothing mention about the current ILR holder and in the draft bill...
