Tier 2 sponsorship & Umbrella companies / contracting

This is a new thread to explore an old issue. My objective here is to help people avoid fraudsters and to allow you to sort the good companies from the bad. On a technicality, you should note that a 'pure' umbrella company can not sponsor anyone; they must act as a consultancy to comply with a spons...

Re: Tier 2 General Contract employment query

Hi Generally you must be employed and paid by the sponsoring company. As a sponsored employee you can not be assigned to a standard recruitment-company style bodyshop contract. Your employer is limited in what they can do with you; client assignments must be genuine outsourcing arrangements and not ...

Hi The thing you need first is a job offer. Your employer would then 'sponsor' a work permit. To get a job offer, you should look at www.jobserve.com, and other job sites. If you have enough seniority to be considered for consulting roles, you could work for a consultancy and be assigned to various ...

Failure to complete a course means you dont get the points / 'credit' for having done the course. However, it does not prevent you coming to the UK if you can qualify without having done the course.

Victoria's advice is sound

£30k is about 50% more than the Uk average salary, and is a great improvement on what most people make outside the UK.

After a year in this role, you may be in a good position to look elsewhere and make even more.

Kind regards

Hi Guys This sounds illegal. There are 2 issues here 1. The legality of charging the candidate for a job. This is illegal in the UK, but I believe OK in India. Also, even in the UK, a candidate can choose to pay workpermit / visa fees so that an employer is not discouraged from employing them. Overa...

Entry clearance - India

Hi

Its not a problem to have no current job as long as

1. You have enough savings to show that you can support yourself until your first paycheck

2. You will soon have suitable income in the UK (which you will have from your work permit employment)

I hope this helps

Hi

If you have finished the course, then you can work 40hrs/wk until your visa runs out. By that time, you should have your transcripts and be able to apply under IGS.

I suggest that once you get enough earnings working under IGS to qualify for HSMP, then you take that route.

Hope this helps

WP Sponsorship & Contracting FAQs - UK

Dear Readers A lot of people want to freelance in the UK but need a work permit. This makes 'pure freelancing' impossible as a WP holder has to be the PAYE employee of the sponsoring company. This guide is for those who are considering working for a consultancy that 'sponsors' their permit while pay...

Hi The new employer must make a fresh application to the Home Office on form WP1. The application is for a change of employment but is similar to an original application save that: 1. The candidate may not need to provide bona fides as these should have been validated with the first permit 2. It is ...

The sponsor of a work permit must pay at least the salary declared on the permit. They can pay additional money eg bonuses on any...
