No you have to complete the two year probationary period under the relvent immigration rule as the spouse or unmarried partner of a settled person.

Your 5 years lawful residence starts from when you start living in the UK not from when your visa starts.

You usually get 3 years after having completed the initial 2 years leave. See immigration rule 245D

As Vinnie says the child will automatically be British by birth, you don't need to make any application for him to be British. You can't switch to tier 4 in country because you were not last given leave as a post study worker but as a dependent of a post study worker.

You also can't study a part time course on a tier 4 visa.

The qualifying date is the date you entered the UK. The embassy should have issued you with a visa for 27 months to give you time to come to the UK and complete the 2 years before the expiry of the visa. don't have any experience of this team. number i have for them is 020 8196 4664 and fax 020 8196 3389 however this is the same number for CRTS7.

i also understand that UKBA were due to change these numbers over the spring so you may find the numbers no longer work.
