If you want to instruct a solicitor there is nothing wrong with doing it after you have lodged the appeal yourself, as long as the solicitor has enough time to prepare the appeal.

it doesn't matter if you generally worked 20 hours or less a week. You cannot work more than 20 hours in any one week except during holidays/at the end of your course.

when did you leave the UK? did you leave voluntarily and pay for your ticket home?

No. the link explains that if the child was born before 1 July 2006 then they are not automatically British. They have to register under section 3(1)

You should get acknowledgment letter in a few days. Then brp letter. If app granted you should then receive letter informing you of this and enclosing original docs etc. Brp arrives separately. Sometimes brp arrives before letter.

are you sure he is being deported as opposed to being administratively removed? Deportation is when the person has commited a criminal offence and is served with a deportation order. Administrative removal is when the person is forcibly removed frm the country as the uKBA say they have no entitlemen...

no, no one can switch in country to tier 5 YMS as the rules state that entry clearance is required and there is no provision for leave to remain in this category. You would have to apply from outside the UK.
