I would say that until you hold an Irish passport in your hand, the fee for the GNIB card for your spouse will not be reduced.

as your wife is not irish, you have to wait until you complete 5 years on stamp 4 / EUFAM before you qualify to apply for naturalisation. You will still have to renew your current permission when it expires in 2013 by applying for EU3 or EU1. You also have an option to change your permission to resi...

I would say that you have to wait another year. then lets say a month before your stamp expires, try to renew your permission with stamp 4. that way, you will covered, and can submit your application exactly a year after your jan 2013 stamp without any gaps. or you can apply for long term residency ...

people mainly went for Stamp 5, because it is valid till the expiry of the passport. lets say passport is valid for 10 years, so Stamp 5 covers you for 10 years and you dont have to renew your stamp and pay for the GNIB card every year, which is 300 Euros now

if you application is based on de facto with irish national, i am not sure if you can consider yourself as having stamp 4 while waiting. well, it's possible that back in 2010 they did not check the 'character' whether you have been good or bad. that's why you were granted stamp 5. but if they checked now and something came up, i am not sure how it will be dealt with. by the way, with a drink driving conviction you would have a proble...

Retention should take a few months to process. It depends on how complicated or simple your case is.
When applying for PR in November you will get a temp stamp 4 for 6 months until the decision is issued.

if your divorce is finalised, you have to apply NOW to EUTR for Retention Form EU5.
then when you complete your 5 years (nov 2013), you can apply for naturalisation, and apply for permanent residence Form EU3 (10 years) in your own right, if granted Retention.

I believe, that you can submit EU1 as soon as you have all the required documentation as long as the EU citizen is exercising EU Treaty Rights. You can drop the application in the box in Burgh quay, but that will get looked after with the rest of the applications. I believe in takes a month to get y...

If you reside in the the republic of ireland, you would satisfy the residence part. However, if you are employed in the northern ireland, you will fail the exercise of EU Treaty rights part, because you are not working in the Republic of Ireland.

I don't think it is done on purpose. It's most likely due to huge amounts of EUTR applications. I think thousands of applicants were granted under metock in 2008 with their permissions backdated to 2007. now they are all applying after 5 years, thus creating the backlog. also just see this board and...
