i would agree that processing of EU3 applications and retentions would take more time than a simple EU1 application. Also the holiday period adds up to it.

I don't think it is done on purpose. It's most likely due to huge amounts of EUTR applications. I think thousands of applicants were granted under metock in 2008 with their permissions backdated to 2007. now they are all applying after 5 years, thus creating the backlog. also just see this board and...

if you request your passports, they can return ONLY your passports ahead of processing. that does not mean that they will issue the letter for stamp 4 or push you ahead other applications for initial processing. but since you are waiting for for a a long time, i am guessing that your letter and pass...

Don't worry, the letter is most likely in the post. on the other thread a person who was due to hear on the 12th, i think, received the letter 3 days later.
everyone gets 2 PRTB letters, a letter per person. Don't worry about that.

general immigration only deals with de facto relationships with irish nationals. I am guessing you are EU citizen but not irish, therefore, they refered you to EUTR

when you submit an EU1 application form, you get temporary stamp 4 for 6 months. if the application os granted, then you get 5 years on Stamp 4EUFAM. Additional documents are there to show that your marriage is a real one. You have a child, so send a birth certificate. Include some family pictures, wedding pictures. Show that you have been living together for several years.

Well if you are self sufficient, that means you are supporting yourself without resources from the state, i.e. no social welfare payments. Plus you have to have medical insurance for the whole family, i.e Eu citizen, applicant and any children

A friend of mine got approved recently and attended december ceremony as a spouse of irish citizen. she applied in 2010.
I believe, that the minister is trying to clear the older applications now, the ones that were kind of forgotten when all new applicants got their decisions in 6 months time.

i would suggest you to submit a letter and a contract of employment from your current job. As you are currently on stamp 4 you are free to change employment. As long as you are working, you are ok.

just my thoughts, that if the EU citizen is already in the country settled in and working or exercising his/her Eu treaty rights, it could be looked more favourably if the non EU spouse is coming to join. while when they are coming together, chances are the EU citizen won't be able to get employment...

Even in order to apply for retention you will have to show evidence or residence and exercise of EUTR in respect of your wife. So if she is not giving you the documents now, how are you going to get them later?
