You will probably have to fit tier 2

Looks like you'd need to fit into tier 2 and the employer would have to register as a sponsor. They'd have to advertise the job unless it was a shortage occupation (which it isn't - because teaching English is not exactly a shortage occupation in Britain).

ILR -

I don't believe there will be a switch in the time it takes to get ILR on work permits / PBS work status. They just upped it from 4 to 5 years, so I can't see that changing again so soon.

More detail on footballers t5 into t2

So, Mr Woolas has decided that, contrary to all information until Jan 2009, footballers will be allowed to switch from tier 5 into tier 2, thus dodging the initial Language test requirement. Only footballers will be allowed to do this - everyone else can sod off. I see Keith Vaz MP has already queri...

Yup - Wolrdbridge - what a great example of outsourcing that is. They told 2 US bands (that I know of - there are probably loads more) that they didn't need work permits. Both bands got stopped at Immigration. In one of the cases we were alterted early enough. We argued that the British government (...

More clarification - and it ain't pretty

Further to this, UKBA's website currently says a 3-month CoS under Tier 5 anly allows one entry. This contradicts what everyone had been told at Taskforce meetings etc. We fought for 3 years to get most bands exempted from the entry clearance requirement and the last thing we need is this petty nons...

10-year ban etc

To be fair, Frontier - there is a GREAT deal of ignorance and confusion in the immigration system and by those who need to use it about work for entertainers. We have had work permit holding entertainers landed as visitors more times than I could possibly mention. We have had ECOs say bands can come...

YES

For T2 entry clearance is mandatory regardless of length of stay / CoS.

Sports - English language req.

Thanks, Frontier - we already have endorsement from the MSA (we couldn't have assigned the cert without it) but thanks for the info all the same. PBS Tiers 2 and 5 went live before a criteria for motor racing had even been put in place or published - I will say again "It is bad policy to make things...

CoS good for only 1 entry unless you tick box on SMS

Just to let you know we have challenged the meaning of the question "Does the migrant have multiple entry" on the SMS forms for Tier 2 and Tier 5. UKBA's interpretation is in fact that this means more like "Does the person need to enter the UK more than once during this certificate's validity"? I wo...

Tier 2 SPORT AND CREATIVE (yes, T2 not 5)

Hi folks - I am an adviser and have been keeping close tabs on PBS' development for the last 3 years. I have been saying to UKBA all along that they need to have some system for dealing with recording artists and songwriters under tier 2. they agreed once they understood. But naturally Tier 2 is now...

should still be valid

We had it confirmed in writing by UKBA before the work permit system ceased that all work permits where someone was granted entry clearance would be valid for the full duration and that the holder can leave and re-enter as many times as they like as long as the immigration officer is satisfied on th...

The online forms - very 'clunky' and badly worded

Hi folks - my first post here. Hope more people who use tier 5 will post in future. I have now created and assigned around 100 CoS for tier 5 entertainers and I hate the forms with a passion!! They are so badly worded and laid out - why were we never shown a working model or the questions before Go-...
