Yes, i had been to UK for 2 weeks to search the job. That is nowhere close to the required time to do anything. It takes 2 weeks just to get your CV across from the agent and get the first interview scheduled I had my CV done from one of the agencies. Did you actually pay for the service? Seriously...

Thats the liberty of being a contractor - everyone knows you are looking for your next role plus you have every right to. As long as it doesnt look like its impacting your work then it should be fine You also dont need to pick your phone. They will always leave a VM and you can call them back during...

Although I had option(in 2007) to buy a property in the UK or buy 1 in India first I choose the latter. And I am so lucky to make the right decision. I bought my flat in India for £40K which could have been a deposit against a 2 bed house in London of £250K. Those flats in India are worth £120 (...

I have been working as a contractor for 5 years, and never ever have I faced/heard issues wherein the job agency has refused a CV because the person worked as a contractor. On the contrary, the companies are keen to get contractors to become perm employees. This is true atleast in financial\investm...

30k is definitely a lot better than 23k. Also, I have friends in Leeds who live on salaries between £32 and £40k and they manage pretty well. What you heard though is correct - mid 30s salary range is perfect for a single person as you can easily save a decent amount. With post tax take home on ab...

While the letter of the law states this is the process, in reality there are literally no employers out there who will sponsor a work permit for you. So if you leave your current employer, chances of getting another job and being sponsored for that is close to nil. While employers do have to adverti...

Hi Shekhar, Congrats on the job offer. I have a few questions for you 1. On what visa will you be coming here and for how long is it valid? £24k is not enough to secure an extension if on Tier 1 nor should you expect yearly salary hike to push that amount up 2. Did you complete the interview proces...

Then it's completely down to you on what you do to be honest. There is nothing stopping you to push the appointment forward by a few weeks and getting this done because it is important. It makes sense to delay your ILR application by 3/4 weeks and be absolutely certain instead of taking a chance and...

Re: Traffic offence for ILR

Thanks for that. It has to come through court for me because i was on Indian license rather than UK license and they cant issue a FPN instead court needs to fine me. All they did is asked me to pay the fine and said once you have the UK license the points will be caried over to UK license. I didnt ...

Was the same case for me, I applied for a Basic Disclosure and my record came up clean as fine was imposed on International License. To be on the safe side 1. Get a standard CRB check done to confirm if you have any 'unspent' convictions 2. If you dont have it then DONT declare it. There was post on...

Student Visa ending before Graduation

Hi, I had a question on behalf of my cousin and thought I'd ask here as this is quite urgent. My cousin's Student Visa is ending August 10th however she graduates, as in gets her graduation certificate, only by the end of August. Is there any means of extending her student visa until then as she is ...

I think you are worrying for nothing. You have sufficient proof really and many on this forum have said that officers only ask for 2 or 3 documents as proof. Further, as she has been your dependant for all applications its even more clear and likelihood is to provide one document for each year. As l...

Agreed, there have been cases of 'technical faults' that have resulted in delays....a few success stories on this forum have detailed delays of 3 to 4 hours due to technical problems. So a 24 hours delay is very likely but yes, chase your lawyer because you are paying a hefty sum for the benefits th...

You need to show you were ordinarily resident in the UK even though you were out for so long. So yes, things like rent, utility bills, tenancy agreement, council letter etc
So if you were genuinely resident here then you can be able to make a case of it but definitely require a solicitor's help.

Yes, there are delays, but cases on the day are reviewed and closed on the day even if it means waiting an hour or more from your actual appointment....I havent heard of cases where they accept an application and tell you to come back in a few days, so its questionable really. The only time there is...

Re: Applying ILR but with a gap of more than six months

Hi Experts, I need your kind suggestion before I apply for my ILR. Here's my travel data to UK. Sep 2006 till December 2007 - Work Permit (valid till Dec 2008) November 2008 till now - ICT (After 2 times of extension of the same Work Permit, final extension is in ICT category) As you can see I have...

Its a very simple process. There are many companies who can do the CRB check on your behalf - remember you cannot request one from the govt directly yourself, its only potential employers who can request for one. However, a provision has been made to allow anyone to get themselves checked and the wa...

I did not get any FPN on a counterpart as I was driving on International license and my case was referred by DVLA to the court because they dont have processes to deal with international drivers. Section 7.1 clearly asks if we have any Criminal Convictions with a foot note that says spent conviction...

When it comes down to the actual letter of the law, you, unfortunately do not qualify. Technically you have been here for 5 years BUT as a dependant applicant, you do not meet the so required siper-set rules of applying AS a dependant. To clarify further, for a main applicant to apply for a dependan...
