You need a UK address and hence the 'residency' requirement. Can't comment on the 2nd one as I had my UK Passport when I went with m...

My worry is that if they take more time for verification , as i am in tight schedule. It will take time if you change your permanent address details on your passport from one Indian address to another. If you change it to a UK address and carry the docs sushdmehta mentioned in his post, then it wil...

The process is that you reach VFS, tell them what you are there for, based on which they give you a token (each category has a different token series). You wait for your token number to be called out, so if there is less of a queue in your category then you get to the counter early. At the counter i...

As a point of interest, does anyone know why India does not allow dual citizenship? I appreciate that its every country's sovereign right, etc, etc., but what are the actual negatives re. allowing dual citizenship? I shall soon be applying for an OCI too, and wish that dual citizenship was allowed....

I honestly think that India should just allow dual citizenship. The distinction between OCI and PIO is quite confusing in many instances. I too think they might merge it into just one class of visa, but then again it might be a long wait before that happens.

You can travel to India, but you will get asked at border/passport control how long do you wish to stay and when do you plan to leave.

If you leave before the visa expires, then it should not be an issue. If you overstay, then you might have problems getting further visas to India.

Emergency procedures are done free of cost by the NHS.

If however you are still unsure about any costs that might hit you at a future date, call the hospital where she was treated and ask them if you owe them anything. This is just so that you have peace of mind.

For example, if I were a citizen of a country which does not allow dual citizenship like India and had become a naturalised Brit...
