Because the fees was set back in the day when the Rupee was doing well against the UK£. Right now its not.

And once a fee gets set at a particular level, it usually never goes down (Law of Indian bureaucracy I guess)

1) Is this by any chance a full day activity. Do I need to reach there very early or can I reach by afternoon before 2:30?
Depends on the queue really. Usual wait times can be anywhere between 30 mins to 3 hrs.
2) Also is there a facility to pay by card?
Yes

I am on a Tier 1 visa and do not have a ILR.
Yes you can and this is the quickest and easiest option.

Other options will require more time and documents.

If all of sudden you come and write a harsh post, calling people as "fooling yourself" etc, what do you mean? I do not consider it a harsh post and that is my opinion. You consider it as a harsh post and that is your opinion. We are both entitled to our opinions. I do not expect any ratification fr...

I do not find it surprising that HCI does not process postal applications quickly. I know that some people cannot make it to the HCI as they live far away, cannot commute, do not have the time they can take off their busy schedule or house chores or some other reason. But realistically, if you think...

'Family Group' column is for applicants. You can provide information about any spouse/children who have OCI on Part B, Q 15
Have you / any member of your family applied for OCI registration earlier? Yes/No

If yes, give details (Reference No., when and where applied and what was the outcome)

I think she now sits in the box office adjacent to the HCI main door, accepting OCI collection applications

a piece of advice guys the photo specification: it should be off white back ground and 80% of the face visible.
Photo background should be anything but white. Mine was grey background and the same for my wife. Also apart from the face, both shoulders should be visible.
