If you do a SWOT,then going back home at present for career/money/family/quality of life is far better than blindly going for a different country. Well, I guess that kinda depends on 1) what you home country is, and 2) what your field is. You know, some people have received highly specialized educa...

Re: Something new and strange, i think ! (Tier 1 General)

Dear all In March 2010 i applied for Tier 1 General. I had made an in person appointment at the home office and they refused me a visa because the amount on my payslips and the amount on my bank statements did not match (though i had earned more than what i had claimed for on my application). In Ma...

Re: Requirement for Tier 1

I'm sure this questions has been raised and answered previously but need to post again due to recent changes. I am in a dilemma as to whether I should apply for Tier 1 now or not? The problem is that I will easily get the Tier 1 right now as I am able to get 100 points plus but the question is how ...

I came from the US. However, hopefully I'll be able to get ILR in January but still, no guarantees. This may be slightly off-topic, but having lived both in the US and in Europe for a number of years, I feel that if given a choice, I would move to the US, without giving a second thought. The proble...

I just have to ask this. Have any of you asked yourselves what is the point of staying in this country and going through all this when there are other countries in the EU and in other places where we could spend our time feeling welcome and working and living without uncertainity? I have gone to be...

My point is that such changes should not apply to existing migrants. We all came here under completely different expectations; many of our dependents had to sacrifice careers to follow us here, under the assumption that at least they stay with us and work. Had it been made clear to us, from the out...

No you are not missing anything but only thinking too far away... if you are a Sneior IT professional with good experience then getting salary of 50-60K should not be a problem.. and being on Tier1(G) visa you can work for more than 1 employer thus chances of earning more money IS MORE... The introduction of such an uncertainty may have other detrimental implications. For example, suppose a Tier 1 General holder intends to find a new job about a year before their current visa will expire. One can imagine how difficult it will be for them to find an employer willing to take them on, ...

Re: Is it near-impossible for 40+ ???

Hi all I am 40+ and having good income from IT profession and can easily get tier 1 visa. However, getting an extension after 2 yrs in UK (FLR) looks nearly impossible as I will have to show an income of GBP 55000 during 12 months prior to applying for extension (35 points for master's degree, 5 po...

Now, they don't care about your or my opinion. There is no option for us to send our feedback to MAC.

Re: What is the earliest you can apply for Tier 1 extension

very unlikely .... 3-4 months is earliest i would say. One can only imagine how difficult it will be to get a mortgage if caps on extensions are introduced... It will be very difficult to find a job (who wants to employ a person with very uncertain prospects for extension?), let alone get mortgage....

How do you people know that TIer 1 extensions will be subjected to the cap after April 2011? Perhaps what the MAC were talking about was that anyone on Tier 2 or some other visa who switched into Tier 1 (switching from Tier 2 and extending their leave under Tier 1) would be subjected to the cap. I ...

My understanding of the cap is that it deals with new applications and entrants. The point of the cap is that the goverenment wants to limit the number of "new entrants" to the country. It's not talking about thousands of people already working and contributing to the country. All those who are pre...
