UPDATE : just spoke to someone at the enquiry line. Letter was sent out at the end of August already! So, lost in the post? Anyway, they have sent a request for it to be resent. Bit of a worry really. What if we hadn't called and asked? Anyway, will update as and when. Thanks. PS I hope this doesn't...

Hi Jambo, May I please query your answer above? I am in pretty much the same boat and wanted to be sure. I am a BC (having been born in what was then Rhodesia) to a British born mum and British born grandparents on her side, prior to 1983. This is how I got my BC. I assumed this meant that I had 'ea...

Good Character Requirement Question

Hi all, Just reading through the 'Good Character' requirements when applying under AN as the settled spouse of a BC and have a question. My wife has no problems with any of the requirements as she has no convictions (big or small), no bankruptcies or CCJ's, or anything else bad. However, as we have ...

Re: Biometric letter?

Has anyone who applied in Mid-July 2012 received their Biometric letter? I am more concerned about SET-O applicants. Hi Dadageer My application was received on the 4th of July. I received BRP enrolment info yesterday 30.08.2012. Needless to say there was a spelling error on my first name, rang them...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know, or think that if you get your biometric invitation letter then your ILR has probably been approved and the rest is formalities in getting the BRP processed and issued? Or is the decision not made until the very end of the process, after the biometric info is ...

Hi John, First off, let me say a huge thanks for all the time and effort you spend on this forum helping people out. I have read many of your posts with interest. I know it's been covered a million times but perhaps you can put my wife's mind at rest. I am a BC and married to a non-EU citizen. We ha...

Hi Jambo, Thanks for the info. This confirms what I thought. We will be applying under section 3(5), regardless of the residency requirement. Why? Simply because it works in my daughters favour. Under 3(2) she will not have the right to pass on her British citizenship by descent. However, under 3(5)...

Expired passport question

Hi all,

Quick question regarding spouse's passport ahead of AN application.

Her passport expires in October, and we will be applying in the New Year.

Problem? We won't be travelling anywhere outside the UK.

Thanks.

My daughter was born in South Africa.

I was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) to a British mum. So I gained my British citizenship by descent through her and her parents who were also British. My mum and her parents were all born in the UK.

Thanks for the info push.

Cheers.

Hi Jambo, or anyone else in the know, I have just read Guide MN1, and it seems to contradict that information. Under section 3(5), the applicable section for my daughter, it states a residency requirement of 3 years for the child and their parents. Hmmm? Confused!!! Thanks again for your time and he...

Naturalisation/Registration Clarification Please!

Hi there, I know I'm jumping the gun slightly but wanted to ask this question anyway. I have been reading up on the next step for my wife and daughter, who are currently awaiting their ILR (spouse + child dependant). I am a BC and having read the FAQs I wanted to check something to see if I am readi...

IMHO, I would ignore that so called advice as longwinded, and possibly fraught with hidden dangers.

Going my route is much easier and you will have dual passports sorted out for travel back and forth for all 3 of you.

As I said, that's IMHO! At the end of the day its up to you.

Cheers.
