I applied through check & send on 15th March and received the passport on 8th April. 10 days were there between the interview letter and date of interview. I did not try any other venue other than the one close to my place. If you try you can get some where early also.

You need to get a support letter from your employer explaining why you were working offshore. Also if the salary during that period is paid here in the UK and you paid the tax and NI contribution here then you have good chance to get ILR.

U can try the above mentioned but it is only a temporary solution to keep using ilr, as ur passport with ilr is not eternal, u know that.
