You have no right to appeal a rejection of a tourist visa. The only way to amend this is to start an expensive judicial review process or to get out of the UK and seek a new entry clearance. If your relatioship with your GF is solid you may consider marriage of fiance visas.

These illegals already get all the welfare they want. Don't forget that whilst legal migrants have to pay a small fortune just to extend their stay, the illegals can invest the money they save towards buying EU passports and then just pose as EU citizens. That is why there are no more asylum seekers...

Granting 5 year WPs has been a standard practice since 2001 as long as your employer had requested that and he was established enough.

The idea was to allow some more time for WP applicants to make arrangments for travel and visa.

As a leading immigration lawyer told me, it is not by accident that the 4-5 year change is coincided with the new point based system. The aim is to reduce the number of economic migrants qualifying for settlement so as to pick and choose only the ones who will bring substantial contribution to the UK.

IMHV "Resident" means someone who has made the UK his home even if that was only for a short and temporary period (like short time students). I don't really think that a tourist can be considered as having resided in the UK. At the end of the day residence is required to satisfy the rules. In practi...

I am not too sure whether a stay as a tourist counts as "residence" in the UK or not.

There will be no amnesty as Labour will suffer a tremendous fall in the polls if this is implemented. This is issue is very politically sensitive.

The reason behind the end of permit free Medics employment

http://society.guardian.co.uk/health/story/0,,1797866,00.html Basically, the government has flooded the medical job market with almost double new medical students and now they have nothing to do with them. The government has spent some £237,000 on each and every medical student. This will now go dow...

I cannot really sea how can he regularise his stay from within the UK. In any case he is blacklisted on the UK immigration system as he applied for extension after his visa expired.

Bankers draft might cost you even more. Better ask a friend of yours with a credit card or a UK current account to pay on your behalf and you would pay him back.

Nothing new, Income Support was always unclaimable by people who had "No recourse to Public Funds" condition of stay. What they added is just a formal sponsor's undertaking which in any case should have been taken at the Entry Clearance stage.

This subject is utterly not meant to be dearly beloved in any way. It just aims to show that whilst the UK targets its legitimate hardworking migrants it ignores the real problem of illegal migration. It also shows that in the UK it is more worthwhile to be an illegal immigrant rather than a legal o...

The reason why Jamaicans now require a visa to visit the UK has less to do with ordinary Jamaicans and more to do with Jamaican drug barons coming to the UK. The problem is that the visas regime did not help much (but to frustrate ordinary law abiding Jamaicans) as these drug barons have enough mone...

A WP holder cannot work for any other employer other than the one who is named on his WP. The only exception is some moonlighting work outside normal working hours. John,

Though they mentioned this issue in the White Paper, only very specific points were open for consultation. The 4 to 5 ILR was not among these points.

Let me reiterate again the issue of increasing the ILR period from 4 to 5 years WAS NOT an issue the government has ever consulted about. Unlike other issues, this point was never open for consultation. The governemt also has never made it clear (until this rule was implemented) that it will be appl...

the HO shows the tame face to the illegal immigrants and shows the tough face to legal immigrants. what a government. It' simple, the illegal immigrants can't take up any highly paid jobs and the locals don't want to do cheap labour... and in the end the illegals have to survive somehow... so... Il...

I think that Clarke (who is now irrelevant) & Mc Nulty have initiated the change to show that they and the Labour party were "tough" on immigration. As they could not really deal with the real problems of illegal migration they have chosen an easy target - the hard working legal migrants. This Chang...
