My friend applied in person at the Sheffield PEO. I am not too sure if he took a covering letter with him but I suppose its always a good idea to have one. The most important document that you would need is a letter from your employer stating that the gap was due to a business case. You may struggle...
As someone suggested earlier, a letter from your employer stating that your gap was due to some project requiremnt will help. One of my friend was in an exactly similar situation, but he got a letter from his employer explaining that the gap was because he was required overseas for a perod of time. ...
I can answer the 2nd question - i have a freind who was in the same situation. His first contract expired and he returned to his home country. he cam back 2 months later on a new work permit and visa. There was a gap of about 50 days between his first work permit cancelled and the new visa granted. ...
Thanks Sush, I take it that I can apply on 18.11.2010. But then what does UKBA mean by - Any time spent in the UK which was free from immigration control will not be counted towards the residential qualifying period. Does having an ILR not mean that I am free from immigration control since march 201...
Hello Guys, I am confused with one more point with regards to applying for naturalization. This is with regards to the requirement of being physically present in the UK eaxctly 5 years before the application is received by the HO. The HO calls these 5 years as residential qualifying period. As menti...
Nirmal, as others have said - no one knows what will the rules be in 2012. perhaps the system of earned citizenship will be in place by then. It is quite possible that going away for 6 months is treated as a break in residence. Are you going to work for the same employer or is it a different company...
Jules, thanks. I did think about this, but does the 3 year rule not mean that someone has to be married to a British citizen for 3 years. i.e. should I have been a British citizen at the time of our marriage for my wife to be able to apply under the three year rule? or does the rule simply means - t...
Thanks Vinny, thats one issue sorted. Now I have some confusion with regards to applying for Naturalisation for myself and my wife. My immigration history is as follows: 1. I started working in the UK in January 2005. I was on work permit. 2. I got married in Dec 2006 and my wife joined me in the UK...
Hi Sushdmehta, the baby was born in the UK. I have just figured out from the guidance notes to form MN1 that he is automatically a British citizen as he was born in the U.K. to parents settled in the U.K. I take it that we do not have to register him! If thats the case can we strightaway apply for h...
Devonian, you will be allright. It wont take 2 years, just looking from the previous posts with regards to the 10 year category, it could be anything from 4-6 months. All the best.
Raynes, I received a similar letter - the only difference was that they did tell me that my application was approved. I got the documents about 2 weeks after the letter. You should hear soon, it wont be too long. All the Best!
Devonian dont worry but just be prepared to wait for a while, it can take a few months may be even six months. However you are needlessly worring about the policy change, such things do not happen overnight and there is always a long transition period. Moreover since you have already applied, your a...
Wptotier - Congratulations! 3crown - You should hear something anytime between 8 to 12 weeks, that seems to be the average. nmkpidelta - I suppose thats the rule - its stamped when its decided. I dont think that the home office will be open to any debate on this! However there have been cases where ...
Rashidawan, they have taken the money so they have got your application. Dont worry, this does happen occasionally. This could have been due to the bank holidays and all. Now all you have to do is wait patiently.
I dont see any problems with that BooBoo. It is quite obvious that one would not remain on the same post after 5 years. So dont worry, you will get it soon. I would suggest you wait untill 14 weeks and dont send any letters now as it may complicate things. Your case is straight forward so dont worry.
Booboo, dont worry you will get it. I would suggest that you do not contact them for a few weeks more as they specifically say that you shouldnt contact them. Have a little more patience, I am sure you will hear soon. By the way did you have any sort of cpmplication in the way of absences !
As everyone says, please post your immigration history in detail. The general rule was that once your work permit or HSMP is approved you have to obtain the FLR within 6 months and in any case before your present leave to remain expires.
Finally got our passports back today. Actually the packet arrived last week but they left a while you were out card. Due to the bank holidays I could only get them today. They have all sent the Life in the UK test certificates. The passports were stamped on 18/03/10. Booboo any updates? Hopefully yo...
