I would be shocked if this applied to the years before this was introduced. It has always been otherwise with any immigration changes.

New Tier 2 sponsor guidance (July 2013)

The new guidance has come out that contains significant changes affecting those who are employed by consultancies. There have been reports that Home Office representatives are conducting on-site audits of consultants. Any experiences to share?

There are companies that will do this for you and your employer. I checked about a year ago, the cost was about 5K pounds with a 5-8 week timeline. One small business owner told me it is too tricky a process to go through by yourself, which may or may not be true. I guess it depends on how much time...

Switzerland temporary work permit for UK Tier 2 worker?

I am employed by UK company on a Tier 2 visa. How difficult would it be for the company to send me for 6 months or more to Switzerland to provide services on company's behalf? Thanks.

Re: Tier 2 General Contract employment query

It can be legal to be on a Tier 2 visa from umbrella company and work on-site for another company as a contractor, as long as you do not work for 24 months or more for the same end client. Regarding payments, umbrella bills the end client monthly and pays you a salary (and possibly bonus) from that ...

Theoretically you can become a student and get a Tier 4 visa. However, you'll lose the time you accumulated towards settlement and may still need to leave the country for a short time as courses normally start in beginning of October or January.

There are so-called umbrella companies who will "hire" you and pay salary from your contract income. You could use one as your supplementary employer. Google and you'll find something.

My question is: what happens to applications that are submitted during interrim period and are subject to interrim cap, BUT can't be included in that cap? For example, interrim cap is reached in April 15, I submit on April 16 - what then? Will the application be considered under interrim rules, but ...

I submit in April 2011, but cap is reached - what then?

Does anyone know what are the rules for assessing applications made under interrim rules, but not fitting the interrim cap? I tried to find out on UKBA website, but without luck. If they continue to be assessed under the same criteria, and same first come - first served basis, only under new cap - t...

Left job, not reported it to police in a month. What to do?

I was let go from job a little less than month ago, now found out I might have had to report it to the police (wording on police website is a litle unclear.) I know employer has the duty to report it to home office, so I was thinking it's sort of "taken care of". Was I wrong? Were you on Tier 2 when...

Fired from a sponsored job, any chance of finding another?

I was on a sponsored job and let go on last day of probation because of "attitude not right from the beginning". It was a very small company, one of the bosses was rude very often and bullied me twice, but, obviously, I can't prove that. At 35, I never had any problems at work, so I know there's not...

Lost Tier 2 job after 3 months, how long can I remain in UK?

I lost my Tier 2 jobs after three months, but the visa ends in 2013. For how long can I remain in UK? UKBA site says they are "likely" to limit my stay to 60 days. How do I find out if they did, and the dates? Thanks.

On Tier 2, lost job after 3 months, should apply for tier 1?

I was sponsored to do a 50K/year job, but lost it (it was a small company and the second founder whom I met very briefly before arrival, didn't like me as a person.) With earnings in my home country, I do score enough points, though. Is it worth it to apply? I'm not sure, because my cause doesn't lo...

Must earn 15K more to switch from Tier 2 to 1. Any options?

Hi, everybody! I'm currently on Tier 2 General, but not too happy with my employer. Ideally, I'd like to switch to Tier 1 before April 2011, but for that I'd need to earn 65K - which is 15K more than I do currently. I do have clients from whom I could earn the "missing" part, but they are either in ...
