Re: news, good/bad

@ chorc123 I'm confused and you have left me scratching my head. Is the £2700 you are owing part of the £4500 he initially quoted? Quoting kiwigirl from the first page of this thread - "A good OICS qualified solicitor would never withhold a clients passport or visa documents. It's unlawful!!" I w...

discretionary leave to remain

Would anybody can tell me if we can claim some benefits? We have 3 years DL, 2 British kids (12,14). Please refer to 14 years ILR application in this forum to see our story. We are desparate to know if we can claim child benefit and housing and council tax benefit. My partner is working full time an...

Re: news, good/bad

when you agreed with the solicitor, did you make it clear that you wanted ILR only? Because it seems your solicitor used form FLR(O) instead. There is no requirement for you be legalised to get ILR under 14 year residence.[/quote] well, when I was at his office last time, he said, he will apply for ...

news, good/bad

After exactly 1 years waiting time, we have finally received positive news from UKBA. However, we are granted Discretionary leave to remain. Actucally, very bad new. We were told by solicitor that he filed our case was just to legalised our status. Then, the next thing is pay him extra £ 2700. Then...

No am not British, I'm an international student. I don't know then. It might take a long time to legalised your partner's case, then your child, and finally yours. 14 years case can't apply with spouse. (as far as I know!!!). I think you should keep your visa up to date ( until your partner got ILR...

Thank you all yeah we have 3 year old and I am a student we have been together for about five years. So, do you have ILR or British passport yourself? Or both of you are applying under 14 years rule? If you are British citizen, then your partner is very likely to get something legalised his/her sta...

Just one more advice, you need to find out if UKBA caseworker is ACTUALLY dealing with you case. If you are still in the queue, then there is not much you can do. Then just wait for your turn.
My story is different from you, read the forum above. However, me and my partner are still waiting.

I know some people are very harsh on this subject--14 years rule. However, if you read through this forum, some people got it very quick even they are illegal entrants at the beginning. Some people have to wait for ages even there was no fault documents at all. Some others just forces to end up at 1...

Hi, I think you are better to look for a good solicitor to deal with the case. I heard somebody hired a solicitor and paid by legal aid for 14 years case. It was sucessful and granted ILR. However, I would say you are better to do it sooner than later. As the government may stop legal aid for immig...

Re: 14 year ilr application success

I just don't understand why UKBA granted ILR for single applicants much quicker than couple/ family application. There is no couple / family application for settlement under 10/14 years long residence. regards yes, I know. I and my partner application is applying as couple but without kids. My kids...

Re: 14 year ilr application success

My cousin and his family applied for ILR under 14 year rule. Application was made in June 2009 for all of them. The youngest family member received ILR on 22nd October while rest of the family of 4 is still waiting. It's taken 16 months for ukba to reach its decision. Rest of the family still waiti...

I forgot to ask you if you know when you can apply for citizenship after you have ILR under 14 years rule.
After 5 years lawful stay.
So does it mean go to probation or just citizenship straight after 5 years??
It will take forever to go for probation first. :?
