It is a punishable offence to travel on an Indian passport after acquiring Foreign citizenship. I think it is about £145 fine for each time you travel.

One more question please and please excuse my ignorance but I've never applied to VFS by post before. Can I just send a normal A4 envelope with my postal application for return of documents or does it need to be a special Royal mail envelope? Same with sending the application?

Surrender certificate + OCI

Hi All, I've just received my British passport and I intend to apply for OCI now and have a few questions: 1. Is there any way that I can apply for surrender certificate and OCI at the same time? The reason I'm asking is that I may need to travel to India on short notice due to a family issue. If no...

I'm about to apply for surrender certificate for myself. The photocopies of Indian passport, Uk Passport, Naturalisation certificate have to be self-attested. Does this mean just sign and date or do I need to add some words as well?

I would be interested in clarifying this as well. I am planning to attend the ceremony with my wife and 1year old. I'm the only one being naturalised so my wife will be able to stay with the baby. He can be fairly active and its hard to keep him still, so any details of the ceremonywould be helpful ...

I'm reassured that everyone seems to be in the same boat and the delay is not restricted to only some applications. Maybe the school holidays/Olympics means lots of staff are on holidays and UKBA are short-staffed? Can anyone shed anymore light?

You haven't mentioned this but I'm assuming that your wife to be is a foreign citizen and currently outside the UK. 1. It doesn't make a difference if you appy through NCS so you'll get to retain your documents. You can then appy for dependent visa for your wife post marriage. 2. The dependent visa ...
