Correction - OCI cannot be applied for unless one of the parents is eligible for OCI as well. PIO card or visa will be the options if you wish to travel to India after baby gets British passport.

So, just to be clear, should speeding / stopping in yellow box etc. FPNs be declared or not?
And I'm asking presuming that they've been paid in full before any deadline.

From your post, it does appear that you have shown good character apart from that FPN. Did you explain fully in the application the reason behind not paying the FPN in time and the matter having to go to court? If not, then you may like to do so in your appeal. I don't know if character statements f...

When I renewed my passport at Birmingham HCI in 2008, I gave my address at that time (I wasn't asked for any supporting documents) which I regret now as I moved from Birmingham later that year. Now its permanently on my passport until I get a new one and I can't use the passport as a proof of addres...

Give the date as the start date of the visa on which your ILR application was based, I'm guessing that will be Jan 2007.

As far as I know, and I'm assuming that you're submitting all the documents that are asked for i.e Baby's passport, Birth certificate, Parent's passport & photos, there is no need to provide any affidavit. I certainly didn't. Remember to take photocopies for all the documents as the HCI will definit...

If you collect the PIO on 29th, then it shouldn't be an issue to travel on the 30th. The only worry might be that if they make a mistake on the card then you won't have enough time to get that corrected. I didn't have a problem with mine nor did I see anyone else that day getting a mistake but you m...

I did apply for PIO card for my son, and it was ready for collection in abt 3 weeks. I applied in person at HCI London. Make sure you have all the documents and photocopies i.e application form, baby's passport, parent's passports, birth certificate, passport photos etc, all with photocopies.

Go to any snappy snaps or other high street photo shops and they will take the passport photo for you. They are fairly experienced in taking baby photos so I don't think you'll have a problem. I did it recently for my newborn and it was £7 for 4 photos.

My situation is very similar and I would appreciate the same advise. I was granted WP in 2005 and got married in Feb 2010. My wife came to the UK in March 2010, we were both granted ILR in Sep 2010. Our baby was born in June this year and he has a British passport. We are going to India next month a...

My wife and I were also on ILR when we had a baby. We applied for British passport for him and have applied for a PIO card for him. Its almost the same as OCI, except its valid for 15 years. Cost is £112 so worth it only if you're planning to travel to India quite a few times otherwise stick to app...

I don't think the re-entry is a problem as once they go in Oct they're going to stay till March and we're not planning to go again anytime soon.

PIO or tourist visa for new baby

We are planning to travel to India in Oct with our new baby. Mom and baby will then stay there till March next year. He's been born after we have been granted ILR so I've applied for British passport for him. Now my question is: since I can't apply for OCI for him(we both still have Indian passport)...

Thanks for your help. I have filled out the form and sent it off via the post office. Its a very simple form, the hardest bit was getting the passport photo(very hard to get the little one to lie still). Fingers crossed that there aren't any problems.

British Passport for New baby

Please can anyone let me know which is the right form to apply for British passport for my new baby. Both me an my wife have ILR granted last year. What documents would I have to provide?

Any help or experience from people in a similar situation, would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat and was thinking the same thing that the baby should be Indian as we are but we have established ourselves in the UK, bought property etc so really there is no benefit from keeping Indian passport. With a PIO/OCI card there will be no need for visas to India and British passport...

@sushdmehta: from what you're saying and other forum posts that I've read, it's relatively simple to register the child as British and apply for British passport and subsequently Indian visa. I can then apply for naturalisation when we come back and there's no time pressure. Any other forum members ...

ILR to Citizenship for family

I would really appreciate some guidance from the moderators on this forum if possible. I am really confused as to what will be the best course of action to take. First some background, I was on a WP for 5 years from Sep 2005. Got married in India Feb 2010 and my wife joined me in the UK as a depende...
