I applied for SC on 17/10 by post and received it on 27/10. I don't think the name field makes a difference from what you're saying. Its just Indian bureaucracy which likes to complicate things as much as humanly possible :-) On to the OCI application now.

There are lots of websites with free practice questions just do a search. And you can also usually get the Citizenship guide from your nearest library.

SC Should be enough, however I would send the copies of each used page of the indian passport as well. My advice would be to go down in person if you can , will save at le...

Are you sure that duplicate copy of the form is not needed? The reason I'm asking is, in the OCI Form notes after the Date and signature section point 7.10 read 'This form when completed should be submitted in duplicate (both sets must have original photograph and signature alongwith enclosures)' Is...

I have always understood that for naturalised citizens this is not required. This is clearly something that has been very recently brought in as I applied in end September and didn't fill in the parents/grandparents details. I received my passport about 24 days after application through PO Check & S...

It is a punishable offence to travel on an Indian passport after acquiring Foreign citizenship. I think it is about £145 fine for each time you travel.

One more question please and please excuse my ignorance but I've never applied to VFS by post before. Can I just send a normal A4 envelope with my postal application for return of documents or does it need to be a special Royal mail envelope? Same with sending the application?

Hi All, I've just received my British passport and I intend to apply for OCI now and have a few questions: 1. Is there any way that I can apply for surrender certificate and OCI at the same time? I'm about to apply for surrender certificate for myself. The photocopies of Indian passport, Uk Passport, Naturalisation certificate have to be self-attested. Does this mean just sign and date or do I need to add some words as well?
