Who is your counter signatory? How do they qualify as a counter signatory? What is their employment status? A fair number of SME business owners wont have formal letter heads. Either they just print it on plain paper and state they dont have a letter head but provide the necessary information to val...

The form doesnt actually ask for your self assessment tax return but the self assessment statement of account which is the document you get back from the tax return if you owe HMRC monies, if you have no tax due or are due a refund you dont get issued with a statement of account. I would say that th...

They are two separate requirements. In many cases it does mean you'd need to be here 6 years because it will take you 5 years to achieve the ILR. Exceptions tend to be when you are married to a BC (you then only need to be free from restrictions, no need for it to be a year) or are on a fast track s...

I would hope you have something better to do on the wedding night! We were in a similar boat in that both eligible under own rights as well as married to BC - in our case the eligibility for each was only separated by a matter of weeks. When you apply you dont actually choose a route but put the fac...

Ultimately the decision is with the UKBA but have never heard of any requirement for you to use the same "route" when going from residency to citizenship. Have known a few who even switched an EU spouse for a BC one whilst in the UK (all done properly & legitimately with UKBA fully aware) and obtain...

And their passport has even less to do with it.

Unless you are asking how long a passport takes because you have included some evidence in with it that you require for your own naturalisation application?

I applied through solicitor based in holborn london and even paid them huge money (£1200) to covering their fee. I really disappointed why they did not use special delivery service. I guess I'd first ask why you needed to use a solicitor given it is a fairly straightforward form with little scope t...

Under normal law in the UK and in particular relating to contracts it is the date of sending that is important and not the date of receipt however this can be over written by wordings in agreements, laws, contracts etc. Have no idea how UKBA play the game, certainly their fees notice nor the parliam...

Americans have the SAME 5 year residency requirement. BUT they made it explicit and said "If you are applying based on five years as a lawful permanent resident..., you may apply for naturalization up to 90 days before you meet the ''continuous residence'' requirement." They dont have the "same" re...

Not an expert by any means but I would argue it wouldnt be any problems. If concerned just stick a comment in the any other info box near the end. My experience over the years of the Home Office sites and paperwork is that it is much more "guidelines" over what evidence to send and that they do cert...

Ultimately it is up to you and you can have the argument with UKBA if you want. Residency, which is what the requirement is, does not equate to being in the country 100% of the time. I dont suddenly become a resident of Dubai when I went on holiday last month even if i was physically in that country...

Surely step 1 is to speak to HO for an update and then post what they say.

Given you've paid money for the help of a solicitor then step 2 is to speak to them with the feedback from HO and ask for their advice.

Look at the timeline thread. 2 months after deducting monies is not a long time at all, I'd guestimate 2.5-3 months is closer to the norm for the decision and you have up to a week after that for the letter to arrive. If you do call you will almost certainly get the its less than 6 months answer and...

You are required to be resident (ie this is the country you are living in, your main home is etc) for 5 years which is requirement one. Requirement two is that you havent been outside of the country for more than 90 days in any one year. You have to meet both requirements independently and simply be...

1) Cant help as didn't go down the ILR route 2) If you plead guilty or are found guilty then yes, you will almost certainly be automatically rejected for naturalisation due to not meeting the good character requirement until the conviction is "spent" 3) Not 100% true, minor convictions get "spent" a...

They do sound increasingly like cognitive questioning.

Whilst this is an understandable approach it does however raise the question of what has triggered them to "toughen" the process. With how UKBA have been at airports etc over the last few months it doesnt feel as if it is something good.

For the nationality checking service you can use any registry office you want (that offers it). It certainly is acceptable ...
