If your Mother was, for example, French rather than British then she still wouldnt be able to apply to become British but most of the "issues" you highlight would disappear. The root cause of the problem is therefore not that your mother cannot get BC yet (thats just a solution) but because she is a...

We had similar issues with traveling on a non-EEA passport with a PR stamp (similar to ILR) post getting BC but to complicate matters further for us is that the passport is in maiden name and BC is in married name (though mentions maiden name). I was advised on here and by the UKBA call centre that ...

The other negative consequences is that electoral roll info appears on your credit reference agency file which will impact your credit score. May not be a major consideration but in addition to loans/ credit cards etc your credit score is increasingly being used to price insurance, in employee refer...

Why isnt your husband willing to allow you to borrow the passport for a couple of hours? Ultimately you dont need him to sign the form, you would just need to book your NCS meeting with the council and take the form and documents there and you leave 45 minutes later with your (and his) documents. I ...

I had issues with traveling during the process and spoke to one of the chief immigration officers at Gatwick who put notes on their system (CID) to confirm he had authorised re-entry. Had to go through the airports Business Services telephone number a...

What do you mean by a "certified copy of ILR"?

Speak with the UKBA at what will be your port of entry prior to leaving and get their view as ultimately it is them that make the decision.

Better still, as has been said, use NCS and then you wont lose your documents during the process.

If you go over 6 months you can call them and they will give an update. How useful that update may be is another matter. You were exceptionally lucky if you got in 5 weeks, most wait 3-4 months.

The contact centre only will give updates after 6 months of applying unless you are very lucky with who you get on the phone.

The implication of you having one when they know you dont (at least according to your CRA file) is a little bit of a trick question, in my book, but not a world ending one.

I decide to apply for British passport. Just want to know how should I start? do I have to apply like new ILR people who apply for Naturalization? do I have to go for English exam? First step is to apply for naturalisation. You will need to sit the Life in the UK test as you didn't do this when get...
