Re: Passport - Recent Naturalisation, Upcoming Trip

The official advice that I received was to make sure not to book any trips outside of the UK after the citizenship ceremony until I have my passport in my hands. The correct course of action would have been to delay the citizenship ceremony until after this trip. I do not suggest he leaves the count...

Re: NCS question

Have they failed in their service to me or is it just tough? Their service is to check that you have completed the forms properly and submit the application for you with all the required supporting documents. If they did this, then they did not fail in their service to you. I am surprised that they...

This doesn't make sense - the concept of "main" applicant (as opposed to dependent") doesn't exist in a naturalisation application. Each person applies in their own right and is the only applicant.

Re: Has any on eused non resident as referee

I used a non-British referee not residing in the UK. NCS guy mentioned that it was unusual but not against the rules. I applied on 17 March so should have an answer soon. The rules were very particular about the other referee's citizenship and age so if they wanted it to be a requirement to be resid...

Re: Check the status of your application online - New servic

I applied on 17 March, so together with others here, I am expecting the status to change any minute now. Interesting to note, that arif254 received a council letter about the ceremony but the online status hasn't been updated yet. My council told me that the letters might come out of order or with a...

Re: Exceeding limits of 450 and 90 days abroad

Reading the guidance and instructions carefully, you seem to have a chance as long as you can prove the things you have said here: lived here for 15 years, have a permanent job and own a property here as well as details about having to travel for work and your illness in Sweden. Personally however, ...

Re: Naturalisation application success likelihood?

Your conditions of leave for Tier 2 were that outside of your sponsored work, only supplementary work is allowed and voluntary work is allowed. It is therefore implied no other types of work is allowed. You keep calling your limited company your supplementary work - if you didn't do work in a shorta...

If you are saying that on and off, you only spent 6 months with her, I'm not entirely sure that's enough. However... What about your mobile phone you used during your time in South Africa - you would have had to proof your address for that too (RICA), what documentation did you use there? Similarly,...

Re: Referee for Citizenship appliaction

I went out of my way to specifically find someone on the list of allowed professions for my one referee (it was a long and hard search) - this was because I phoned UKVI and they said that they could not advise me if a profession was acceptable or not unless it was specifically mentioned in the list....

Re: Additional documents

My understanding is that you need to prove: 1. Your work was purely part-time/vacation work (e.g. no more than 20 hours per week during term time and if more than 20 hours per week, proof that it was outside term time) - so send in the work agreements 2. Your university or college allowed you to wor...

Re: Britsh Citizenshp and Knowlege of English

You demonstrate your ability to speak and understand English in very specific ways. Being hired to do a job in the UK does not demonstrate that. Swallow your pride and just do it - I am from a country where many people's native language is English and they all have to do the "test" if they cannot pr...

Re: Naturalisation & Passport Application: step by step proc

As you don't know exact dates yet it would be very difficult to tell now whether you will need to travel. Just book your ceremony for a date where you will be in the country for the following 2 weeks. Leaving the country without a valid means to reenter is not advisable.

Re: Citizenship- English Language

If you already proved English language for ILR, you do not need to prove it again. You need to submit the same documentation you used for your ILR to prove English language. (In my case, I used the PBS printout and degree certificate and the NCS officer said that was sufficient).

Re: Passport - Payment

It is not usually possible to process a card not present transaction without the CVV number (last three digits on the back), so you shouldn't expect to see an attempted transaction. It is the same as expecting to see an attempted transaction without providing a card number - it simply cannot be done.

Re: Actual experience on using language for ILR after 2013 o

I got my ILR after Oct 2013 so I just ticked an appropriate option. NCS staff asked me to provide the same docs that I'd provided earlier at the time of ILR for English Language. So, I provided degree certificate, transcript and a print out of PBS calculator (thankfully I'd saved it in PDF.) I also...

What was the UK address you used during that time? Where did your post go in the UK? Where would you have gone if you arrived back in the UK after 20 days rather than 40?
