Well my passport has always been stamped when ever I left the UK and entered back again, being on a South African passport - they make sure they stamp them!

UKBA website

If you have spent time in the UK while you were exempt from immigration control, you cannot include this time as part of the residential qualifying period.

OK thats fine then... The PR issue date of my sticker is Dec 2007 - surely I was ok applying now for BC? Entered the UK in May 2001- received EEA residence card 2002 and PR in 2007. Concerned that they say Residence qualifying period can not include time spent in the UK free from Immigration control...

I have just applied for my BC - UKBA signed for the documents on Jan 06.11. So does this mean they will be looking for if I was in the country in the whole year of 2006 OR just Jan 06.2006?

OK but just worried I even go to NCS and they say cant accept application as SA passport due to expire - as surely they take a copy of the passport too that has the expiry date LOL

I am stressing like one would not believe!!!!

Some people say NO your passport needs to be valid - others say NO its OK, even UKBA are giving different answers!!!!

Well the way I see it - my passport will still be valid at time of application!

However on the UKBA website it says if you can not provide your passport you can show other means of identity and I also have the letters from the HO confirmed I have gained PR and they accept that as proof you have PR. No I have said I will apply in January 2011 and the passport expires in Feb 2011!!! So there will be one month validity

To get a renewal passport from SA is terrible, it takes 6 months (if you lucky)!!!! What shall I do????

NO thats the problem I have not got a new passport - just the one I have when I entered the UK - I will be applying though before the passport expires in Feb 2011.

I rung Immigration and they said it was OK - but I dont know!!!

Oh I know something I should have done!!
