Thanks ukpl - I will ring the council tomorrow as my approval letter says that I should receive the invitation two weeks from the date of approval which was Jan 20

well my acknowledgement letter stated just:

but the approval letter was hand written

Yes that is what my letter says, that the invitation comes from the UKBA

Probably your invitation is stuck in a 2nd mail post room.
