Hi,thanks for this, but this seems to be UK legislation.

The country where I will be taking up work is Ireland. Is there either a piece of Irish legislation that deals with this issue, or perhaps an EU directive?

Thanks again.

Keloid, are you resident in Ireland in conformity with EU law? If you are, your wife is entitled to live with you in Ireland for as long as you do. Ben, at the moment I am not in conformity with EU law, the reason being that I am not yet unemployed. That said I am mulling over an employment contrac...

EU residency rights - working as an independent contractor

Hi there, Just a quick question. I understand that if you take employment in an other EU state, then you are exercising your EC Treaty rights and therefore your non-EU spouse may able to apply for a residence card. However, does being an independent contractor count as being 'employed'? Or does it c...

Re: EU national - Applied for a visit visa for my non-eu wif

I will say there is no "automatic" rights to extend a C-visit visa. However, there is now a new STAMP 0 with which you can request an extension of the C-visit visa in an "exceptional humanitarian circumstances" See: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Stamp%200.pdf/Files/Stamp%200.pdf All the best Thank...

Hi there. Some advice would be appreciated. I'm a British citizen. Married my wife a few months ago, who is an Iranian citizen. As the Embassy in tehran is closed, we'll likely go to Turkey to apply for her spouse visa. I understand my wife should bring her original passport. Will the Embassy in Tur...

Re: EU national - Applied for a visit visa for my non-eu wif

If she is granted the visit visa, how many months will she have before she must use this visa? Thanks in advance Hi Keloid, The C-Visa is usually for 90days in the first instance and it is "supposed" to be for a single visit. To now answer your question, there is a date of issue and a date of expir...

Thanks for the link Vinny.

The link mentions that there is a 3 year residence requirement. For a Non-Eu family member of an EU citizen, does that mean 3 years residence in
the UK - or 3 years residence within the EU?

many thanks

Well, we'll be here at least until December 2012 before we consider our options again. Just the visits to the UK I was thinking about. Honestly, just don't fly Ryanair and you'll be worry free. Ben, when you say 'worry free', do you mean that he can get away with taking his non-EU spouse into the U...

Re: Good

That's good, because UKBA seem to put a very strict interpretation on the Surinder Singh case law, in that applicants using this route must have been economically active as an employee or self-employed worker when exercising treaty rights abroad. Eind was also economically active in the UK before r...

Switching from student visa to spouse visa

Hi, My girlfriend is studying english on an extended student visitor visa. The visa was granted for 11 months. We are thinking about getting married (I am a UK citizen) and applying for a spouse visa. The UKBA seems to suggest that switching from any category to a spouse visa is possible, as long as...
