He passed his Life in UK test 3 years ago for ILR. BC is not waste of money but English Requirements are really bad thought of. Saying that someone who’s been in full time education for 3 years here in UK and got a diploma doesn’t know Basic English is crazy. ESOL Entry Level 3 Speaking and Listeni...

Re: why do you need referees for BC

well they had it before the good character requirement came into effect, so might aswell keep it as the more steps, the more ways to trip you up somehow.

Is it normal for no reason to be given for refusal or is this an isolated case of the HO simply keeping silent?

We have a similar case as my wife was stopped while driving using a mobile few months ago. She got a £60 fine & 3 points from police, no court case. We also are looking to apply for BC but not sure whether to declare this offence on the application or not? thanks Even if you don't, you still have t...

Hmm, didn't know there was added "risks" depending on how you acquired citizenship. If you're not born British from a BC parents than you have less "protection". Not that I want to sound like a lawyer to a defendant or anything.

You can use the old form for 28 days from when it was published. Wonder what happens to the ppl who got a referee to sign a recent form but plan to apply later down the line? I know referees can sign 6 months beforehand according to another thread, but if the page numbers and sections turn out diff...

I thought the good character requirement changes/increases was introduced fairly recently, past year?. Also I won't entertain that other strawman. :-)

Could be some confusion over if you're born British than they can't strip you of anything since you have no other nationality to go to. I don't think it makes any difference born in UK or not since they can still strip anyone of British citizenship on national security grounds regardless . The way t...

I don't know if you specifically talking about naturalisation process, but many ppl have said this about the whole process, because of all the tests, delays and so on. Relief that it's over but not as much joy as they expected.

Thx for the reply, much appreciated. If I read correctly the refugee status falls under the header "Additional exemption routes for settlement purposes". Having a disability or over 65 also falls under this header. Then it lists some things under "Transitional arrangements for settlement application...

I was going to direct you to your other thread but it contains a video which is bad on the eyes. The form will change for after 28-Oct-2013. Do you have a degree taught in English? Unfortunately no degree. Will the changes then no longer exclude refugees from having to take the tests? The form AN I...

I'm exempt from any tests?

I have refugee status so am exempt from taking any tests. The funny thing is I already spent over £120 on the LIUK test (came " late " to one so had to take it over again). I was even about to pay £125+ for an ESOl course recently until I came across a random link in a thread about the requirements....

You can check whether or not it's listed on your record by requesting a SAR from the Police. Here is my situation. http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=925473&highlight=#925473 ^ if it's not on their computers which the Home Office will check than I don't see how they refuse your applica...

just curious, for your test did you have to do the "Discussion of a prepared topic (up to 5 mins)". The Topic phase gives candidates the opportunity to display their level of the language while talking about self-selected and personal topics. When choosing the topic for discussion, candidates should...

Re: English Language and Knowledge of Life in the UK

I already passed my LIUK test at my ILR. If you already passed the LIUK test before 28th October surely that means you don't require the additional proof of a B1 English requirement. If I apply for naturalisation after Oct 28th, but have passed the LIUK test before 28th October, I don't need to do ...

Valid complaint about the "Life in UK test"?

Not sure if this is a full-on complaint or a nit-pick but I was "early" by 4 minutes before the appointment time, but was 1 minute inside the 5 minute buffer. Appointment was at 10, got there at 9:56 now I'm out nearly £60 (travel+test fee). Searching the entire http://lifeintheuktest.ukba.homeoffic...
