The earliest she can apply is August 2014. As she entered the country in August 2008 as your dependent, then 5 years after that she becomes permanent automatically, and 1 years after becoming permanent resident she can then apply for British citizenship.

Yes, the best to do is as allta advised - to call and ask to withdraw the application in case they haven't received it by close of business on Tuesday. It will be annoying to withdraw it as they haven't received it yet, so you will have to check this on a daily basis - just to make sure that once th...

1st Recorded Class is rubbish. Only special delivery guarantees next day delivery. BUT having said that, they may have received your application and the Royal Mail page never shows the delivery properly. It happens to 1st and 2nd class recorded. It's absolutely crap. I have sent 1st class recorded l...

goody09,
That's a good sign that they take care of the spelling.
In the past, my residence cards always had spelling mistakes - it was always so annoying - thank God my Naturalization certificate was correct.
I got the impression that they take more care in the Nationality Directorate.

Once the person from Easy Jet told me: "You don't have a visa to go to Germany". I said: "Of course I don't. I don't NEED one". I was traveling on a Brazilian passport, and Brazilians are not required to have a visa to enter Schengen. The best is to speak firmly and if they insist, you have to advis...

Mike, I had a brazilian passport. So I entered as being Brazilian. I didn't want to go through the confusion of: "I have a brazilian passport but I am british"... Just decided to enter as if I never had the citizenship. You can always bring your citizenship certificate with you just in case. But I d...

I travelled shortly after my ceremony and came back as I would do without having the citizenship - just used my old passport and Permanent Residence card as usual. It wasn't a problem at all.

There was a show on TV the other day showing people using stolen passports to apply for dependent visa - ie: they stole passports in Spain and applied as married of the person who had the passport stolen in the UK. Then the person who lost the passport in Portugal, Spain etc doesn't even know that t...

Why in the hell you would apply with a document lost/stolen? Well, if it was lost or stolen you wouldn't have this with you in the first place!
Home Office is correct to further investigate this as this looks completely dodgy!

Vinny, I know that the charge shouldn't be there, etc. But strangely they also charge in Germany and the Netherlands... In Germany it's about 80 EUR! How can they do this too?

Facts about the British Passport

For me and my partner this didn't work because the machine could apparently read only the old models - at least this machine!...

Hi Camellia, Congratulations! I called them - the line is bad as it's automatic system (voice recognition system), but if you say OPERATOR it connects you through to the call handler. My partner suggested this as he already worked in call centre - they never say advertise that the "operator" key wor...

If the money is good and you can deal with the delay in getting the citizenship, then fine. The "problem" is if after 6 months abroad they want to extend your contract, then you may find on a situation where the british citizenship is further delayed or you even may lose your ILR if you stay abroad ...
