When ips sent a letter to my countersignatory for verification, they asked him to type the reply on his official letter head.

My countersignatory received the letter for my passport application. Bascially they asked my countersignatory to recognise the photo and asked him questions like my name,address and how long he knows me. IPS asked him to type the answers on his official letter head

I am not sure but i think if you use Royal Mail to send your application then they take the date of sending into account rather than date they receive them. my brother had applied through lawyer in may 2011 for citizenship its due in Nov 2011 after six months but HO didn't reply yet one year has gone .....we are very worried.
