Re: References needed again for passport?

The council I am applying through doesn't have any such instructions on their webpage. One more thing, can the council take payment (like the post office) ? No, they only submit the applications along with completed payment forms to the HO/HMPO on your behalf. If details not published on the counci...

Re: References needed again for passport?

If we go through JCAP :- - Would the referees for naturalisation be sufficient for passport application ? - Would the photos be needed extra for passport application? Do they need to be countersigned? 1) The countersignatory section of the passport form doesn't need to be filled. 2) You need to pro...

Re: Frequent Visit

Are the evidences be same like we provide proof of income/savings by providing business bank statements or employment letter from the employer while applying for visit visa? Unless anything explicit is mentioned I'd say the form of evidence you've mentioned would be fine. However I can't comment on...

Re: Frequent Visit

The applicant must provide evidence that they will be able to adequately maintain and accommodate themselves and any dependants in the UK without recourse to public funds As i am outside UK then how can i proove that i can accomodate myself and any dependent, unless i will not have any job in UK, a...

Re: 2 questions regarding Life in the UK examination

So, you have one chance to answer each question, and that's it. I took the exam few months back. For me, I was able to skip ( later choose answer ) and go back to the earlier questions to amend answer too until I submit. Its coming close to 4 years since I did mine. But I too was able to go back an...

Very true. It is interesting to see the way it's evolved over the years.

Re: can i switch from student visa to general visitor visa ?

A person is entitled to apply to extend a visitors visa. However applying for a tourist visa after living in the UK for a while is not acceptable. In my particular case, I made a in country visit visa application while I had leave to remain in the UK as a student - all be it during the last month l...

Re: DESPERATE help for refused 10 years ILR

i have applied for SET(LR) based on the 10 years residency however my application was refused due absences outside the country, around 900 days. as stupid as it may sound but i absolutely had no idea of such a rule until i got my refusal letter through the premium service. i have been resident in t...

Re: can i switch from student visa to general visitor visa ?

Quite strange that a person who has been in the UK for a lengthy period wants to switch to visitors visa. It will make a mockery of the rules, if it was possible for a person to do this. I know this isn't possible now. But it was possible around 15 years ago, though I don't think I applied to switc...

Re: HMRC Penalties for late filing SA and any impact on ILR

Note : for few years, i have got refunded extra paid tax which my employer had deducted from my salary. All SA have been done by taking the p60 as a reference.hence got tax refunded if paid extra ( as over paid tax). That's normal HMRC practice, if an overpayment has been made they will send a refu...

Re: HMRC Penalties for late filing SA and any impact on ILR

Yes, employment history and p60 are sufficient. in 2014, my ICT top 3 employer sent email to file SA for all employees. Do you know why your employer asked its employees to file self assessments? This isn't something I'd expect an employer to request. If you were a sponsored ICT employee I'd expect...

Re: ILR application queries

I came to UK on May 9, 2010 on Tier 2 (Intra Company transfer). On October 3, 2011, I got my Tier 1 (general) visa. On October 3, 2016, I will be completing 5 years on Tier 1 (general) visa and am applying for ILR. 1) In the form, it asks for the date of entry in UK and the absences then on. Do I h...

Re: ILR application queries

1) Yes. All absences during you ILR qualifying residence period should be listed.
2) Yes.
3) If it was to visit family, then that would be the reason. If you believe there's a need for cover letter you can include one, but that's a personal choice.

That's normal. Payment for each is taken separately. There's usually a gap of around a week between the two.

Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

I don't know whether different rules apply around the number of entries & validity period granted to those who apply for a schengen visa as the spouse/family member of a BC But I'd say the chances of being issued a schengen visa that is valid for entry into all schengen countries is more likely than...

Re: Proving legal status in UK prior to obtaining ILR

Let me clarify. Indeed I was a minor upon my entry to the UK (and was a minor when received ILR - 17 years old). But my mother's document that I wrote about her date of entry into UK, and so by default it also confirms the date of my entry. The reverse side of the document states my name, age and h...

What happens if I apply without SAR, and they decide they want more info? Would they write to me requesting more evidence? The advantage of making a SAR in before you apply, is that you will know what they have on record and can thereby make a informed decision around your application. Thank you fo...

I'm going to go to the consulate in Manchester and see if they'll see us without having an appointment! Long shot I know... Re: Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

21st August!! I think we're absolutely screwed. We're also flying with Ryanair and apparently they always check that you have the relevant visa. London keep referring me to Manchester, and then when I call Manchester there's nobody to speak to. I can't believe this! I totally messed up. Should have...
