It’s common to see a 2 week gap between the date on the letter and when you actually receive it.

Re: CAHNGE MY NAME BEFORE NATIONALITY POSSIBLE

You’re free to change your name as you wish. Make sure you get a name change deed for it. Also remember that if you will be applying for a British passport whilst keeping the passport of another country, both passports must be in the same name, so you may have to get a new passport of your current n...

This means whether or not you think there are any special circumstances they should take into account that could make them to still grant you citizenship even if you're not eligible. If there are no such circumstances, the answer is no. If there are circumstances that you want to plead, you can answ...

Re: British citizen ship and overstay

Given that you were not married to an individual exercising EU treaty rights then, none of the very limited exceptions apply. The exceptions are about whether the circumstances of your overstay were due to no fault of yours (denied extension by Home Office error for example). You'll be eligible to a...

This is because it is possible for the Home Office to send you a letter and ask you to respond within 2 weeks. If you miss that l...

Re: Need to leave UK

Nothing happens to your British citizenship. Once you're British, you're British, unless you commit a very serious crime or are considered a national security threat in which the Secretary of State can move to strip your nationality. You just need to sort out your personal affairs like forwarding ad...

Hey guys

I just got the “You will be contacted within 21 working days” email.

Has anyone got an approval after this kind of message before or should I be worried?
No one knows for sure, but it appears that people get a decision in the post not much long after that.

Re: First British Passport after Naturalisation

The passport application is really straight forward especially compared to the actual naturalisation application. In my opinion there is no real value in check and send and you can just complete it all online and mail with documents by recorded delivery and safe about 10 pounds. I'd echo that. The ...

Re: First passport after Naturalisation - Do I need to send original documents/passport??

Unfortunately, certified copies are not accepted. You have to send originals of the following:

- your certificate of naturalisation
- the passport you entered the UK with (if you still have it)
- all uncancelled passports that you currently have

Re: Submitting application date (5 years period)

Are you married to (or in a civil partnership with) your partner, and are you a British citizen?

If so, she could apply as the spouse of a British citizen for which the residency requirement is 3 years, so she would need to have been in the UK exactly 3 years to the day on the day she applies.

Re: Good character refused birtish application

Unfortunately, since you came to the UK illegally, even as you were subsequently granted asylum, you have to wait until 10 continuous years of being legally present in the UK. So that will be 10 years from the date that your asylum took effect according to the court decision.

Congrats on your naturalisation. HMPO can still invite you for a passport interview, however, most people who apply for a first passport within 1 year of naturalisation don't get invited for an interview. Also, it's worth mentioning that in the future, you should not mention online that you hold a s...
