Re: EU & Brexit Deal

My daughter has a UK Passport, i'm aware i can also get her an Irish one, and also a Thai, as her mother is a Thai national, so in effect she could have 3! I haven't applied for her Irish one, as didn't think there was any point at present. Could you elaborate in why you think this would be a good ...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

It just gives us more options if required, and as you say, after the negotiation, it could end up being agreed that PR gives 'Settled' automatically anyway. I think/hope PR would give us more 'security' either way, but who knows as yet. We go on a overseas holiday in Jan, which i don't want to take...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

this new information on 'settled status' is very confusing........I have recently applied for PR (in June) under SS route, got only the original passports back, not sure how are they gonna deal with the PR cases applied after 29th March 2017 or the cases under their consideration yet? Current laws ...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

At least you can be rest assured that Mrs May will not use you as her sacrificial lamb, to plummeting approval rating, but for your family, I think the Jury is still out. Yes, we have in until November to see what transpires. But the requirements for settled seem to be the same as for PR, allegedly...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

As a matter of EU law, there is nothing that will preclude Irish national family members from qualifying under Mrs May so call generous offer for Irish Citizens. This is my current understanding. Appreciate that could change for myself due to being a dual national, but we benefit from the Transitio...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

But no matter, the CTA insures the Rights of Irish people, which is confirmed again in the document yesterday. Not really understanding where they could be 'conned'. I think you misunderstand the CTA and the rights of Irish citizens in the UK. Irish citizens themselves are covered by domestic legis...

Re: EU & Brexit Deal

The Irish may be conned, as the Ireland Act 1949 gives Irish citizens no more rights than Australians. Fortunately for them, they should generally be able to recover matters by entry to the UK via the Republic. The rights of Irish citizens in the U.K. (and vice versa for British citizens in Ireland...

Re: EU offers post-Brexit rights to Britons in Europe - docu

Yea, the reason I posted the original article, is that if that's what's being offered, then obviously it would have to be reciprocal for EU Citizens and non EU family members in the UK, such as me and my wife.

Sorry if this was already posted. Looks like the EEA PR online form now allows applications together with family members. Also, it looks like they don't request people to list all travel anymore. https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/eea-pr Apply for, renew, or replace a document certify...

Re: Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

Thanks for your response. Judging by that, if worst came to worst, I'd just be better going down the settlement route by marriage. I meet the financial requirements, my wife's English is sound, it would just be the Life in the UK test, and cost of Visa process. Though I am still hopefull no matter w...

Re: Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

... if 'hypothetically' the FP/RC/PR route is closed to my non EU wife for whatever reason, what other options are there for her/us to stay in the UK as a family taking into consideration our daughter and my daughter's status? I have read somewhere that the mother cannot be separated from the child...

Re: Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

Hi everyone, thanks for your input, and it looks like I can use my UK Passport then. I'll just draft a brief cover letter to head off any potential misunderstanding. I have one related query. I think no matter the outcome of the referendum it will have implications on non EU family members going do...

Re: Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

Hi, Yes, my wife is under the McCarthy TA's and will always stay on them. Though as far as I'm aware the McCarthy judgement was successfully challenged not so long ago anyway. Though I don't want to sidetrack the thread in that direction. Ok, thanks for mentioning about Irish being classed as settl...

Re: Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

I was under the impression HO didn't treat dual nationality UK citizens as EEA citizens in this context so unsure if the family permit was legitimate? Unless that rule has changed only recently? Definitely still the case. Maybe he used ta's or SS? I'm not sure how it works but I believe Irish citiz...

Dual National, used EEA, can i use UK for baby

Hi, I am a dual national, I was born in Northern Ireland, and legally hold both an Irish and UK Passport. I currently live in London and have used by Irish Passport to bring my non EU wife to live here with me via family permit, and she is now 3 years into her 5 year residents card. My question is, ...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

These proposals are all BS. What has got the publics back up is the hoardes coming in and claiming asylum. The proposal does little to address the public anger all it does is stop maybe 200 British subjects from being with their partners. That's hardly going to persuade anyone to vote to stay in. W...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

After doing a bit of reading, the emergency brake is applied only to newcomers with David Cameron emphasysing that. Also the child benefit payments will start getting indexed in 2020. There is no mention about the no eu thingy but am assuming in this case it should be applied to new comers One woul...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Even David Cameron at the parliament today was not stupid enough to suggest the UK can repeal the 1972 act before the 2 years period provided in Article 50 of the Treaty. He is hoping that the Memberstate will renew it if a trade agreement is not reached before the 2 years elapse. He is also aware ...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Also just watched Cameron live on Sky News say it will bring an 'end to the ridiculous way EU Residents being able to bring non EU family members to the UK without being subject to UK Immigration Law'. So again, conjecture in my part, but hoping if it does happen, it will be transitional, only for n...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Even though I am someone who has benefitted from this, I...
