On what grounds was your grandmother refused? It seems, from what you say, she fits the profile of a dependent adult.

I see some people choose 'other' and then explain in the space for additional information that the sponsor is in fact husband or wife. But I have also seen 'friend' being used and, again, an explanation in the space provided. I would hope that, having revamped the website, such ambiguities on the ap...

There was a flyer on Britcits.com regarding a demonstration to be held this week concerning sponsorship of elderly parents but I have not seen any real questioning of the 'new' rule. I am sure it affects many people however. I have a good friend who can no longer go and live in the UK with her Briti...

This really needs clarification! Many applicants are asking the same question on this and other forums. I am still not clear at all.

I have seen similar comments on other forums. It seems that the only way to enter the information is to do as you have done, choose 'other relative' and then in the space for extra information put that the sponsor is husband or wife. I am sure the form will be corrected soon.

Congratulations! I am glad your application was a success. I have found with the visit visa, all originals are returned to the applicant and it is a relief to get them all back! I am interested in the part in which you say the online application form does not count as the date of application. I am p...

I have read on another forum that it does seem to take longer than other regions. No idea why. One has just been granted after 55 working days. I think you can email Worldbridge after three months have passed?

However, when we applied for visit visa earlier this year, it took less than two weeks.

Some very good points, Richard W. The landlord's responsibility seems onerous. I can definitely see problems for landlords having to keep a check on the expiry date of their tenants' visas. I suppose the expectation will be that when this happens, the lease will have to be broken and the tenant evic...

This new requirement provides a lot of food for thought! What happens to current tenants, without valid visas, whose lease may not end for another year to two? Are landlords supposed to evict them?

I think you have to do biometrics every time an application is made regardless of the time in between applications, but I may well be wrong. Hopefully someone will clarify this for you. Does your mother have any family members in Barbados? It seems so harsh a judgement when she has visited before an...

So they actually put a refusal stamp in the passport? I know it would be most likely in the system. So if we apply for a spousal visa and it is refused, it is unlikely we will be able to visit the UK again! Wow! Big decisions to make!

Entry on visitor visa if spousal visa is denied

I guess there is no way of definitely knowing but if a spousal visa were to be denied, is the entry officer likely to refuse entry on a pre-existing visit visa? I can imagine they might feel that, having been refused a spousal visa, we might try to sneak in on a visit visa and stay!

Savings versus income requirements

Can someone tell me, please, if applications based on savings alone are also being held up indefinitely if they are not approved, or if it is just applications based on income? We are considering applying and would hope that our savings would more than meet their requirements but I would hate my hus...

I have no idea when she left the UK but it would have been many years ago. She may have been like my husband who gave up his British passport when his country became independent. He regrets this now as you can imagine!

Widowed parent to return to live in UK

A friend of mine, a Jamaican citizen, would like to settle in the UK where her children have been citizens for many years. She is in good health, has a property in the UK, draws a pension and has considerable savings. She worked here for many years. Does anyone have any knowledge as to how an applic...

I know that when submitting an application for a visitor visa to the UK, we are told to send copies along with original documents as failing to send copies could result in UKBA keeping the originals.

True, except he would be submitting previous passport with visa. I must ask my friend why she feels it is not necessary. It is important as it affects the time we submit the application. Biometrics are done here once a month.

Biometrics for second visitors visa

My husband has to apply for his second visitor's visa and a friend tells me that, having done his biometrics for the first one, he will not need to do them again for the new one. Does anyone know if this is true please?

It was Guyana which became independent in 1966. I know she was given a Patrialty stamp and that children of mothers who were UK citizens could get it as long as they were under eighteen years of age. In fact when I came here to The Bahamas, I told a few other people here whose children were still un...
