It is common belief that HO has direct access to HMRC records and they do cross check claims of income against HMRC data.

Re: Length of tier 2 for ILR

A CoS in itself grants no rights whatsoever. It is just a document that indicates your employer’s willingness to employ you and hence the basis for a Tier-2 Visa. A CoS if not used expires in 90 days. Your visa, when issued grants you the right to live and work in the U.K. As your visa was issued on...

Re: Previously approved IELTS General Training

It’s not the test centre, the exam itself has to be on approved list. Following is copied from gov.uk Applying to settle in the UK You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if both of the following are true: it’s on the current list of recognised tests it was accepted for another UK immigr...

Previously accepted qualifications will only be accepted if they are still on the list of approved exams. You’ll need to take a B1 SELT exam.

A recent credit card statement should be okay. In fact, that’s what I used as proof of address and it was accepted.

Re: Driving Offences, National Identity Card, "Doctor" Title

1. A Parking Charge Notice is nothing but an invoice. Parking companies usually mark them, rather deceptively in my opinion, with "PCN" in big letters to confuse and scare you. No need to mention those. 2. No harm in sending it. I would if it was asked for at any stage in the application. ...

You should enter your income from primary employment.

Self employment is not permitted under Tier-2 so you might be in trouble if you've been working for yourself.

Tier-2 ILR Absence Letter

Hi, I'm applying for ILR next month. My understanding was, the employer letter needs to include absences from the UK and that no evidence is needed for holidays taken within the UK. Until I read UKBA's answer to the following question: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/clarification_on_new_ilr_...

Re: ILR Refused based on IR Paragraph 245HF

You've been incorrectly advised that your qualifying period started from the date your CoS was issued. Your qualifying period starts from the date your Tier-2 entry clearance is issued. You applied too early and HO's decision to refuse your application was legally correct, therefore, there's no chan...

Re: English language requirement for ILR (UK)

I sat IELTS General Training and was awarded an overall score of 8.5 back in 2012. The trouble is, whilst our certificates do satisfy the current English level requirement, they were removed from the list of acceptable tests in Nov 2015. The only tests that are acceptable now are the ones having SEL...

Re: Tier 2 General to ILR

Your salary must be at least £35000 (£35500 from 6th of April) or equal to the rate specified in relevant SOC code, whichever is higher.

My understanding is, you'll have to be paid at least £39K to qualify if that's the amount for your SOC code.

Tier 2 to ILR Salary Increase

Hi, I'm planning to apply for ILR by the end of March. In April last year I successfully negotiated a £6000 pay rise, that bumped my salary from £32000 to £38000 pa. The increase was reported to the HO as a performance based raise. Now my employer is giving everyone a pay rise, which will increase m...

Unfortunately, even valid non-SELT IELTS is not acceptable anymore. She'll have to sit a SELT exam I'm afraid. Totally unnecessary, but that's how HO rolls.

Re: ILR Salary Threshold - Pension & Other Deductions

Shouldn't be a problem IMO. ILR pay threshold is set as gross income not net.

Pension contributions are same as getting paid and putting some of the money aside in savings, share contributions are same as getting paid and then investing some of the money in shares.

As far as I know if you trade then you will have to pay tax on the profits. This might create issues when you apply for the ILR. I suggest don't do anything which may create issues later on.
Depends on type of trading. Spread betting is tax free in the UK. CFDs are not.
