Re: Sexual Identity Asylum Claim

Hi Alicia, I'm sure he'll be willing to help, but as Casa said "Members can only send and receive PMs after they have made 30 posts." - I did send a PM to you, so not sure you'll be able to receive it. Perhaps, you can give me an email address he can email you on, so you can send him your number and...

Re: Sexual Identity Asylum Claim

Hi Alicia, My mate might be willing to help, but he's not keen on sharing his phone number etc online. He said you might find it difficult to convince HO that you need humanitarian protection if you're not being threatened. Their argument will be that, you can live safely in Nigeria if you keep a lo...

Re: Sexual Identity Asylum Claim

Hi Alicia, My best mate is a gay Nigerian man, and he had a very similar experience as yourself (dodgy legal advice which led to a ruined and failed ILR application) He applied for asylum after his previous application and appeals failed, and was granted 3 years ago. His timeline from application to...

Re: Suspended from work! ILR in expired passport. Help!

Hi Nkechi, The ECS shouldn't give a negative response if your ILR is still valid...It doesn't matter who your employer is. The Employer Checking Service (ECS) is solely for checking immigration status of an employee by an employer. I think an error has been made either by your employer whilst fillin...

Can he make an application for ILR via SET(M) now, on the basis the existing "common law" relationship?
No he cannot, because he does not hold a visa as an Unmarried Partner or spouse to qualify for Set(M). He will have to wait till 2018, there is no short cut or easy route.

Thanks a lot CR001.

5 year LTR to SET (M) ILR

Hi Guys, Again, I apologise if this the question I'm about to ask has been addressed in a different thread...I have searched thoroughly but came up with nothing. My mate was issued 5 year LTR as a refugee in November 2013. He has been in a "common law" relationship for over 5 years, and the status/ ...

Re: BRP holder working abroad and other issues

Not true, tax is paid where the work is done. And you cannot contract via a UK limited in Switzerland, you have to be employed on a local payroll. Thanks Wanderer. So in order words, he'll have to keep contracting in the UK if he wants to keep his UK status? Well nothing wrong with working abroad a...

Re: BRP holder working abroad and other issues

He's a contractor, and does short term contracts as self employed LTD company registered here in the UK. He's still paying UK taxes whilst working abroad. Doesn't the fact that he's still rooted in the UK in that way count for anything? He might not be physically in the UK during the periods of his...

Re: BRP holder working abroad and other issues

As I asked about 'Mate B' I was giving my opinion on 'Mate B'. :| CR001 was right when she said that the application would be difficult. Oh Ok thanks. I know it'll be very difficult. Mate B - is he living with his girlfriend and if so, for how long? Mate B is not living with his girlfriend at the moment, but has known her for over 5 years..but has no documentary evidence of this. He was living with his partner with whom he made applications with, and hit a bad complication in t...

Re: BRP holder working abroad and other issues

[quote="CR001"]Mate A - if he does not reside in the UK, he will not qualify for ILR in 2018. If he leaves, it is possible he will lose his refugee status as he is then not obviously a refugee in the UK. Thanks a lot CR001 for your quick response. The nature of the employment is actually temporary. ...

There is a caveat that if your claim is without merit you will be moved to detention centre for removal. The ...

It's quite a shame that this thread has been hijacked by a belligerent "adviser". The poor OP hasn't received the advise she was seeking. This has become the bane of this board these days, and I find it quite sad. Please moderators, can you suspend or ban "advisers" that use this forum as a medium t...

Re: What are the available options?

Polygamy is illegal, it's up to the parties to ensure they are both free to marry, no excuses here, no issue. Hi Wanderer, Thanks for your response. I believe this to be a case of polyandry, because it's the woman that has been adjudged to have an existing marriage, hence renders any other impendin...
