You, me - maybe, but not everyone has it, especially at HO, so I understand all these concerns, how ever it may sound.

Hey,

Just remembered someone mentioning submitting P60s as a proof of 5 years' residency, not sure if it is required though.

Good luck with your application.

Generally AMEX is not favored in UK as their charge higher fee than others so I guess HO is not happy to share their profit with Americans.

You just stood up for yourself, not assault from your side, however however ridiculous it may sound, you do not present danger to British public.

Do not seek fairness and justice in this system simply because they have never been set as standards, local people have already accepted this fact long time ago and just continuing to "keep calm and carry on" :) or sorry to sound harsh, "shut up and get on with it"

Hmmm, as I can see, some got a bit different response, looks like only those, who used IELTS in the past, would be able to re-submit it as a proof.
Actually this exemption was already announced back in April and added to the rules, so they could not change it and came up with this afterward.

Hi,

I remember querying about this and HO came back saying to specify needed surname in the form and provide marriage certificate.

Has anyone actually done this way or you have to go through deed poll?

Thanks

Just for reassurance, posting response from UKBA received today:

"Please note that the 2 year validity attached to these qualifications only applies to entry clearance applications and are therefore still accepted for settlement and citizenship applications after this validity date."

Re: Expired IELTS

Hi folks,

Just came across the reply under FOI from UKBA regarding expired IELTS acceptance and seems like they are fine with that:

Approved English test grading

Probably brought this up somewhere already but as I could not get any response from HO, calling out to you for helping me to understand the minimum grade requirements in this document? http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/new-approved-english-tests.pdf The question I have i...

Also, I am not sure any communication from the HO at that time, explicitly stated on what basis they have concluded an applicant satisfies the language requirement, and I am sure they wont mention the IELTS certificate number etc. Its still a bit of a gamble, IMO. Thanks to both of you for clarifying things for me regarding immigration control.

So based on this, the requirement is not 5 years + 1 year on ILR, but 5 years prior to application having its last 12 months spent under ILR.

I also don't think your statement that ILR is counted from EC grant date to be correct (unless you entered within 3 months but in that case you would completed 5 years by the time you have 12 months ILR). That's correct, for ILR, 5 years is counted from EC date on condition of entering UK within fi...

Thanks for replies, I understand all of that. The requirement is 5 years (working visa in my case) + 1 year on ILR. But they say those 5 years must be complete and counted from day of arrival, whereas for ILR, they counted from entry clearance's grant date. My question is do I still have to wait for...

residential qualifying period

Hi folks, It is probably simple one but wanted to check if I am missing something. According to HO, residential qualifying period is complete 5 years and counted from date of arrival which is different for ILR, where it is counted from date of entry clearance. I have got ILR at PEO which means earli...

I think HO deliberately keeps us in the dark to make things "easy" for us, same old, same old.

Thanks for email, I'll be dropping another one too touching upon non-sense minimum grade requirements in http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... -tests.pdf

That list does not make sense to me. For example, minimum grades for B1 can be WEAK, but for B2 it must be at BORDERLINE at least, which is higher than B1 anyway. Same for others.
