Sorry for my ignorance. I was under the impression that EC for HSMP visa is 1 year and then the extension for 4 years is given later. Has this changed to 2 + 3? Yes it has for all new applicants. Although people who got their EC before April 2006 have had their intial visa for a year and will get a...

FLR = Further Leave to Remain An application for FLR is made when you are already inside the country and wish to either extend your current visa or switch into another category. You would apply for an FLR when you want to extend your HSMP visa. It seems to me that the HO has emailed back a standard ...

PS: one merit of the one-year EC is that you get your residence permit one year earlier... i think this is a big one, right?
Your EC itself gives you a 'Residence Permit'. If you are talking about ILR, then no, you still have to complete 5 years before applying for it.

Advise me , does this matter needs to be taken so seriously as I will easily get an extension after completion of one year. Thats true, but you have certain disadvantages. - You have to cough up £315 a year earlier than you should have to. - You have no idea weather you will be given a 3 or a 4 yea...

Agree with John. If you do a search on the forum you will find many applicants who have reported getting an EC for 2 years. I would be curious to know if this is specifically a problem with VFS Delhi or all the VFS offices in India. Anybody who received a 2 year EC (based on HSMP) from India in the ...

The gross salary will taken into consideration. Salary payslips in company letterhead with office seal and signed by accountant and IT return original documents are best to claim the earning points. I would also add bank statements to that list. It will further collaborate the two evidences mention...

Re: Proof of age. What is required?

Hi I understand that for evidence of proof of age you can send a copy of your passport. Must this copy be notarised/certified? I live in South Africa, so if the copy is certified by the police is that ok? Is any other documentation required for proof of age? All other documentation I will be submit...

You should still get an extension of 4 years as you have been employed during this period and are economically active. If they are not satisfied with the time you have spent in the UK, they might reduce the leave to remain but other than that, you should be fine.

There should not be a problem. You are allowed to do part time work. You dont need to mention it in your HSMP application since you may not be claiming those points.

I am moving this topic to the HSMP forum where it is more applicable.

Can you also let us know the reason you were out of UK during this period. For instance was it business related?

You relative period of unemployment should not be an issue.

2 months and 3 weeks in advance you risk the possibility of the application being returned back to you unprocessed as its too early. You can call up the FLR team and explain your position. If they agree, then you can send in your application with a covering letter. Their telephone number is on the F...
