You are an overstayer. JR does not legalise your stay in the country. If Home Office guys do turn up at your wedding, they will not ask you your legal status. They will know your status before they turn up.

OK. She needs to wait 12 months from ILR to apply for naturalisation. This should not be anything to worry about. Naturalisation application is simple straightforward procedure. 1.She will need to pass Life in the UK Test. 2. Have a B1 level english qualification in speaking and listening. If she ha...

There are two separate distinct requirements 1. Applicant must have lawfully resided in UK for 5 years. 2. Applicant must have held ILR for 12 months preceeding the date of naturalisation application. Many people will meet both the requirements in 5 years ie they might have obtained ILR after 4 year...

She needs to wait 12 months from ILR date before she can apply for naturalisation. ILR is valid forever, but the biometric residence permit needs to be updated every ten years. This is so the photo on BRP is not too old. Just like photo driving card needs to be renewed (updated with a new picture) e...

It appears that is better to obtain PAN card before gaining British Citizenship. Only form 49A will be required.

I am wondering if I can get a PAN card before I surrender my Indian passport? Technically I will become a British Citizen tomorrow.

They will not refuse for not writing paye reference. As long as you meet all the statutory requirements, they cannot refuse an application.

If anything is missing or they need more information, they will always write to you.

You also need to take a chill pill.

I know what you mean, it is just that I was out on 14th and 15th January in 2009 so I hope the application does not reach UKBA on 14th or 15th Jan 2014 since I have to be physically present in the UK 5 years before the application date. I hope NCS post the application sharpish. 2nd Jan to 14th - 12...

Re: Fined for being in the Bus Lane is a conviction or not?

Hi, If someone has been fined for being in the Bus Lane, is that considered a conviction when applying for ILR and/or BC? Thanks PCN for bus lane violation is issued by local council. It is not regarded as conviction, and does not need to be declared anywhere. If a recovery order was made by a cour...

It depends. Most of the times they post same day, but sometimes it can be next working day. But what difference is it going to make? What difference is one day going to make to your life? My suggestion always is, take a chill pill and do not do unnecessary research or worry about trivial matters. On...

I thought about it a few years ago, before applying for citizenship. Actually while moving stuff around house, and moving mountains of papers made me think that. Just out of curiousity, I made a subject access request three years ago. It was well worth the money. The SAR file contains all the applic...

Anyone can marry. Immigration status just does not matter. You will have to leave the country and apply. If you meet all the requirements of a spouse visa, then actually applying from outside UK is the best and easiest option. Just gather as much proof as possible of you and your spouse living toget...

They only need to see what they have asked for. They will not need to see again what they have returned. They will have all what you have sent to them scanned onto their computer system. I suggest you get back home in peace, and after reading their letter, ask anything else you may have doubts about...

Is this considered as a civil offence or something? Believe me, if you start digging on what offence it is, and what are the legalities and legistlations of on the spot fines by train companies, then the research would easily run into reading dozens of pages. As VR said, you do not need to disclose...

I am sure it is God's will. If it wasn't God's will, he would not have guided our legislators to include secton 6 (2) in BNA 1981.

You solicitor is most likely not a solicitor. Probably just an OISC level 1 advisor aka just a form filler with no brain. If he does not know this basic thing, then he is not even fit to fill up a library form, let alone dealing with nationality matters. If he has infact spoken to a barrister ( I do...
