Hello all, joining the thread as we have just applied for my husband's citizenship by naturalisation from Northern Ireland. One question - can he gets his passport back before they decide or do they keep it for the duration of the process? I asked the Citizenship Unit this question and they said: "...
The CSSO would disagree with you as would I but I do thank you for your input. They would be VERY wrong. If this was still possible, I'd be using that route for my civil partner. See here: http://www.migrantproject.ie/images/interior12.pdf http://www.irishabroad.com/travel/irish-citizenship/Article...
And with no obvious connection to Ireland you would appear to have no claim on Irish citizenship let alone the privilege of an Irish passport. This is incorrect and misleading. As the wife of a person holding an Irish passport there is both an obvious connection and a justified claim to the passpor...
The Citizenship Dept sent me the following reply to the same question:
'The original passport should be returned to the applicant once the application has been initially assessed, usually within 3/4 weeks.'
Unfortunately, it is the question of Home Office accepting the application without Residency Certificate as Home Office helpline also advised me to apply for Residency despite providing all the info as per this thread. I am not sending a request under FOI to get the clarity as I am concerned of loo...
We've just got our approval from applying as an Northern Ireland Spouse. - We did provide a DAT1 and were advised to do so when we called the INIS helpline. - Again as advised, we just did N/A for the residency permission calculator. As we had to provide full signed photocopy of the passport it con...
Just curious. Can you use the most recent 5 year period to apply for PR? I think that the WRS ended in April 2011, would you be able to use April 2011 to April 2016 (or even slightly later)?
Hi all, I am EEA national and my wife is non-EEA national. I've been in UK since 2011. I am applying the EEA PR but would need some help from you to clarify some questions (and I thank you very much for that): 1. Could we fill out one form only for - the document certifying permanent residence for ...
Hi, I can't comment really on the EEA permit as my husband is a British Citizen so we couldn't go down that route and had to get a UK Visa. However my understanding is as long as your married for 3 years and have been living on the Island of Ireland for 3 years you are fine. As long as you can prov...
Hi there My civil partner is living in Northern Ireland (NI) with me (Irish citizen) and we will be here 3 years in a while. We will then be applying for him to get Irish citizenship on the basis that he will have lived on the island of Ireland for 3 years as the spouse/civil partner of an Irish cit...
Once wife has eea family visa how can she get an national insurance card. How long does it take Call them when she gets to the UK. The number is: 08456000643. My partner's application only took about 10 days. Not long at all. We 'ordered' the application form over the phone and then filled it in an...
http://www.immigrationboards.com/eea-route-applications/renouncing-british-citizenship-to-use-eea-fp-route-t113833.html have a read through this. What are the potential implications of giving up my British citizenship if I wish to continue living in the UK? Will it have any effect on benefits such ...
Hi there, Another question can my wife come on a vistor visa then can she whilst in Uk apply for a eea2 visa. Thank you Email: EuropeanOperational@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk to check but I'm sure you can. I had asked the European Ops team the same question in the past and they said it wouldn't be a prob...
I have decided to renounce my British citizenship (dual irish national) in order to apply for an EEA family permit so that I can move to UK with my partner. As we are living outside the EU is it acceptable for the counter signature to be non EU? It doesn't specify on the RN form although it does ha...
Depending on what type of application it is, you should be able to get a solicitor to do it (for a fee). Call some of your local solicitors to see how much they would charge.
Drop a line to INIS: visamail@justice.ie Or the GNIB within the Garda: GNIB_DV@garda.ie. When I was contacting the GNIB about 'transiting' (as I called it) via Dublin en route back from Copenhagen to Belfast, I was told that I was not actually 'transiting' as no flights exist between Dublin & Belfas...
That story sounds familiar!! Don't worry...there's always the Irish spouse visa as another option! Hey Clive! Just to clarify the Irish spouse visa ... is this when an Irish citizen, living in the UK, applies for a spouse visa for their non-EU citizen? ... Which under the new proposals would mean h...
Hi sp84, definitely considered doing ss as company I work for operates both in ni and roI so relocate to Dublin wouldn't be difficult. However my husband is in the army doing his national service until 23rd June!!! Will be a bitter sweet day for me. I do meet the financial requirement for uk howeve...
"The agreement confirms measures to deny free-movement rights to nationals of a country outside the EU who marry an EU national, as well as action to tackle the use of sham marriages to gain residence rights."
Does this mean that the EEA route is now, effectively, closed?
Hi all, Have been reading posts on the forum for a while now but finally decided to join and ask a few questions. I have read a lot on the EEA route but so much of the posts here are related to British citizens using it. I am an Irish citizen (not dual British etc) and I want to use this route also...
