So does this mean that child has to apply dependant visa extension.

Switching is definitely allowed and will count for ILR but if one is rejected Tier1 Ent extension and also Tier2 initial ,,appealing/judicial review against the second will raise multiple queries

Sending Unnecessary documents is not recommended. I got my initial TIER 1 within 3 weeks or so and extension application is submitted since 4 months( few extra unnecessary bank statements)

I have applied for my dependents(children) for leave to remain in country and i think it says in forms no need to provide birth certificates if dependent visa granted before.I am not sure if same is the case with new entry clearance

I think the Main applicants ILR application and dependents lets say wife (who has spent 5 consecutive years) and UK born children B.C can be at the same time.

Caseworker guidance also explain that how to consider main application and then dependents for such cases/ILR
